I am fairly new to the blogs and recap and to tvsa as a whole, a colleague introduced me to the site and I got totally hooked . . .so this might not be as you'd usually have them.Nip/Tuck follows the lives of two Miami plastic surgeons, Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Christian Troy (Julian McMahon). by the by. . . it is Julian McMahon's 39th birthday today.
Just to sum -up what I make of season 1
- Sean is married to Julia (she dropped out of medical school to raise her children), is nearing middle age and trying to come to terms with his formerly 'perfect' life falling apart.
- Chriatian is a womanizing plastic surgeon also approaching middle age, he serves as a foil to the more family-minded Sean McNamara, his best friend and business partner.
- Julia's been married to Sean for over 15 years, she and Christian have a son,Matt who is just a troubled soul indeed. . . (I could be very wrong about his partenity but the last episodes of this season just sort of give it away).
- Escobar, this is one scary tatoo'ed-faced [...] he is a South American drug Lord. ruthless, violent, blantant jerk
I think I have sort of introduced whoever was not watching season1 to the main characters.
Sean's marriage to Julia is a mess and makes me wanna stay single for as long as humanly possible, I think they are doing that thing of 'staying in it for the kids'. This man cheated on Julia with some patient who later died and he had to mourn her, that's when Julia found out and it was just so sad cos he needed to mourn and couldn't-Julia couldn't let him(I wouldn't too).. .but then again, it is somewhat even and they can start all over cos julia le yena is a cheat BUT they should start on a clean slate. . .
Christian's acceptance of $300,000 from Escober the drug lord, who is desperate for a new face put his partnership with Sean in danger and their lives in pure danger. so dangerous was this that Liz(Anesthesiologist at theMcNamara/Troy practise) was shot in the leg when Sean refused to operate on some girl who had Escobar's 'coke' in her breasts(Escobar uses these girls boobs for trafficking his drugs). . .in the end the snake gets a new face and he gets arrested at the airport trying to skip the country (or the world since he is so wanted by the FBI and the what,what).
Christian's 'love life' is so messy I get dizzy trying to figure it out.He went out with Kimber, well on and off. Stunning lady, i am talking abt a former model/porn producer/porn actress/druggie.she came across as being extremely self-conscious about her looks. Mind you Christian is a surgeon and his job to make ppl look good and thus feel good but in one of the episodes he attempted to "trade" Kimber to a rival plastic surgeon who was in love with her in exchange for the rival's new sports car,I figure that has contributed to Kimber's poor self-image. . .
He gets called 'a$$hole' by Gina the sex addict (the brother does not seem to mind), Gina claims the child she is carrying is Christian's and with Christian nearing 40 an instant family seems like something he needs and he falls in love with the idea of becoming a dad. He so looks forward to it such that he is there almost every step of the pregnancy and is more than willing to give up his womanising ways so as to be a good dad. . .he does it all. come delivery time and voila, the baby is black. . .
you have to watch SABC3 every Friday at 22:15, for the second season to see it all
