And I mean epidermic proportions as Oom Oubaas would say.
No, I’m not only referring to the love triangle between Vince, Felicity and Xander. There’s a new or should it be old, love triangle between Madel, Nicholas and Renate and I’m hoping the oldies are gonna let the sparks fly.
Summary for last week:
Monday 04 September
Hilda prepares herself for victory as she practices her acceptance speech and gives Maria and Oubaas instructions for her after party.
Matrone phones Dominee Potgieter to discuss the issue of Hilda’s fraudulent postcards.
Vince makes a special breakfast for Felicity and goes all out to impress her. Xander walks in on the cosy scene in the Deli and quickly tries to leave again.
Everything is arranged for the Dazzling Dame function as Aggie walks in with the name of the winner but her lips are sealed. George tells her to guard the envelope with her life.
Felicity tells Xander that what happened was a mistake (what exactly did happen that we did’nt get to see, you will swear they slept with each), she apologises for sending out the wrong signals and regards him only as a friend. Ouch, the dreaded F-word!
Madel and Nicholas Scott come face to face in the Boekwinkel. They are both surprised to see each other but I noticed their eyes lighting up as they looked warmly at one another.
He apologises for cancelling their date and she enquires about Renate. Renate? Who is Renate, don’t tell me it’s his wife.
Apparently it is as we later see Nicholas and his wife Renate having dinner together. He tells her about bumping into Madel and that she invited them to dinner sometime. Renate is all nice and happy to hear about Madel but I sense some chilliness about her, there’s definitely a past here, one involving Madel, Nicholas and Renate.
It’s the evening of the Dazzling Dame function where the winner will finally be announced after weeks of speculation.
Hilda is in high spirits and invites Madel and Neville back to her flat once the winner is announced. Maria tries to get Ouma to be more discreet and not openly boast before the time.
Matrone has a knowing smile on her face as she lets Hilda carry on. She tells Mandla to have his camera ready and is herself positive about her near victory.
Not able to wait for Dominee Potgieter any longer, Neville is just about to announce the winner when the Dominee walks in and tells the judges that something about the competition has come to his attention. He shoos them out of Oppiekoffie and shows them the suspicious postcards. Madel agrees that the postcards were definitely tampered with and the votes will have to re-counted.
Maria is very worried and phones Paula, leaving a message that they’re in big trouble.
Felicity tells Vanessa about Xander and it would appear that she does indeed have feelings for him and Vanessa tells her that she’s trying to convince herself that she actually loves Vince.
Quickly off topic, I read somewhere that Felicity is/was pregnant in real life and it has become very obvious now, her boep is quite big and her new wardrobe cannot hide her pregnancy away any longer. Would’nt it have been interesting had they made it part of the storyline, like which brother would be the father? I know I’ve got too much Bold and the Beautiful in my mind, 7de laan is way too decent for that.
The judges return and Neville is about to reveal the winner. He introduces all the finalists and the winner is declared as *drumroll please* ……… Netta Nortje of the Old Aged Home.
I know I’m as shocked as you all, we thought they would choose neither Hilda nor Matrone and go for someone else but apparently they did’nt.
Matrone is totally emotional and Mandla does a little praise singing in her honour as everyone applauds. Poor Hilda is left licking her wounds.
Tuesday 05 September
Hilda is under the impression that Matrone crooked her way to victory and Gert encourages her to fight back co’s that’s what the Van Zyls do.
Alyce is desparate for cash and wants to sell her car but it needs urgent repairs. Karien overhears her pleading with the car salesman on the phone.
Gert flirts outrageously with Tessa and leaves her a huge tip. Seems Gert has money to throw around and Charmaine confronts him about sponging off Oubaas and Hilda and warns him to pay his way and find other accommodation.
Matrone is in the Deli speaking on the phone and is quite boastful about her diary being so full and everyone wants a piece of her, she can’t keep up. Hilda is green with envy.
Renate, Nicholas Scott’s wife, sees Madel in Oppiekoffie and makes her way over. Madel greets her warmly but there’s some tension from Renate’s side. The two make idle chit-chat and agree to meet up at the book launch.
Renate goes over to the boutique for an outfit and fishes for information by Inge about Madel’s love life. She seems very interested in the fact that Madel has never remarried.
Xander tells Marko that his date with Felicity was a disaster but Marko encourages him to go after her and not be chicken.
Emma’s guest speaker for the launch is stranded in Paris and can’t make it. She decides to ask Madel to be the speaker at Nicholas Scott’s book launch.
Oubaas is determined to find the truth behind Netta winning over his bride but Maria stops him and tells him, she’s the culprit who sent in illegal votes for Hilda.
Needless to say Oubaas is shocked, it’s a disaster of epidermic proportions and he will not be able to look Dominee in the eye when his wife’s name has been smeared black once again. The only thing to do would be for the Van Zyls to move to Rondomskrik and Maria has to go too.
Felicity and Xander bump into each other and there’s a definite vibe between the two. Vince walks in but does’nt suspect a thing, he would’nt really, he’s way too full of himself to ever think that his brother could snatch a girl from under his nose.
He invites Felicity on a trip for a week but she’s full of excuses and he teasingly tells her to behave herself while he’s gone. She looks guilty.
Emma asks Madel to be the guest speaker at the launch but she declines even though Emma is very persistent, Madel refuses to help her. This guy really has an effect on Madel, she’s just not herself anymore.
Felicity is crying in the boutique when Xander walks in. He tells her to stop lying to herself about her feelings for him. They end up kissing.
By bloody time too!
Wednesday 06 September
The kiss lasted longer than we thought because they were still kissing when Felicity finally pulled away. Xander tries to put doubts in Felicity’s mind about Vince but she refuses to listen.
Hilda is all fired up about finding out the truth behind Matrone winning and Maria stops Oubaas from telling her the truth, fearing that Ouma will never forgive her.
Emma has found a professor who knew Nicholas Scott, to speak at the launch. Jan Hendrik informs Dezi that his mother is not well and will not be attending the book launch. Dezi does’nt buy this for a minute.
Vince sees Tertia in Oppiekoffie, makes his way over to her, flower in hand and apologises by asking her out on another date. She agrees.
He tries to avoid Felicity by sneaking out of Oppiekoffie but she sees him and invites him out for the evening. Vince is full of excuses, he can’t disappoint Tertia a second time so he lies to Felicity about attending a function. She looks disappointed.
When Matrone walks into the Deli, she places an order with Hilda for a function she’s having and Hilda, unable to bear it any longer accuses her of cheating her way to victory. Matrone turns the tables on Hilda and she’s confused by Matrone’s accusations about her.
Renate is getting ready for the launch and she tells her husband she has to look her absolute best as she does not want to be upstaged by his former sweetheart, meaning Madel. So there was something hot and heavy…
Danny and Inge are celebrating Danny’s first distinction and Karien suggests a girls night out. They invite Felicity who has no choice but to go.
Gert buys presents for Maria, Oubaas and Hilda to show his appreciation and pays Oom Oubaas for board and lodge for he and Cheryl’s previous visit. Charmaine is pleased to see this and tells him to be on the lookout for his own accommodation.
Good for you Charmaine, you’ve got him right where you want him.
Hilda tells Oubaas about Netta’s accusations and he lets slip about the cheating. A guilty Maria blurts out that it was her and Hilda looks very shocked and disappointed.
Nicholas Scott is introduced to everybody and he makes his way over to Jan Hendrik and Dezi burning with curiosity to find out where Madel is. He’s unhappy to hear that she won’t be coming and Renate watches with beady eyes.
Vince and Tertia are at the club snogging when the girls walk in and make their way to the bar. Alyce recognizes Vince and Inge tries to protect Felicity but she has already seen Vince with Tertia.
Vince is finally caught with his pants down and looks sadly at Felicity as she storms out of the club. All the girls give Vince the evil eye.
Nicholas Scott writes a personal message in his book and gives it to Jan Hendrik to pass onto his mother. Renate approaches Dezi and enquires after her mother in-law telling Dezi about Nicholas and Madel’s big love affair and that she was not the reason for them breaking up.
Can’t wait to hear more about this, it sounds very interesting.
Thursday 07 September
Madel is pleased to hear that Nicholas missed her at the launch and even happier when she receives the book with the personal note in it. She phones to thank him and invites him and his wife to dinner.
Hilda feels upset and humiliated at the stunt Maria pulled and feels her reputation is shattered. Maria is all packed and ready to return home to Qwa-Qwa, she apologises again to Hilda and bids her farewell when Gert comes to her rescue.
Hilda forgives Maria and the two make up.
Tessa and Karien discuss Vince’s betrayal of Felicity. Felicity is down in the dumps and Inge and Karien try to console her.
George is frustrated about the delay with Wilmien’s auditors.
Madel invites Emma, Ryno and Carlos to the dinner party. Seems she does’nt want to be alone with the Scotts and prefers a full house.
When Vanessa finds out about Vince’s cheating, she makes her way to the Deli to resign. Vince is shocked and the two start arguing about Felicity. Soon Xander walks in, hears everything and starts attacking his brother.
A very comical fight breaks out between the brothers, could’nt help laughing at it all but Marko spoiled everything by breaking up the fight. At least Xander got that last kick in.
Emma is reading an article in the newspaper and she looks very serious. Inge steps in and she shows the article to her, it’s about Imnyama Bay, remember that deal that Emma’s father was involved in and wanted everyone to buy into, well it turns out Emma’s father was right for once.
It turns out there’s an unprecedented growth in Imnyama Bay and everything that Tokkie said was true, it was the deal of a lifetime. There are no more beachfront properties available and it’s being regarded as the new Plettenberg Bay.
This news upsets both Inge and Emma and no matter how Ryno tries to make Emma feel better, she feels so bad for not believing her father and for breaking up the romance between him and Inge.
Gert and Oubaas try to cheer Hilda up by taking her out to a Turkish restaurant. When they return, they are greeted by a very upset Cheryl, waiting for Gert with her boob bag in hand.
I’ve never seen a bag like that, would you walk around with one?
Madel is nervous about the dinner party but Jan Hendrik assures her everything will go smoothly. When the Scotts arrive, there’s emotional tension between Madel and Nicholas and Renate is as fake as can be, complimenting Madel at every turn.
Vince comes looking for Felicity and he apologises for his behaviour, yet he’s still lying to her. Felicity has had enough of him and his lies and she eventually breaks up with him. Good for you girl, it’s been a long time coming but you finally had the sense not to fall for his charms again.
The dinner party at the Terreblanche house is going rather well, only problem is that Renate does not give Madel and Nicky the chance to be alone, they can only stare longingly at each other.
Friday 08 September
Cheryl refuses to forgive Gert for leaving her alone without any money, she had to pay their hotel bill by washing dishes for three weeks. She’s still highly upset and Gert decides to stay out of her way.
Felicity hears about the fight between the Meintjies brothers and everyone is sympathetic towards her.
Madel tells Jan Hendrik to speak to Carlos about the future of the boutique.
The auditors are finished with the assessment of Kyriakis De Lange and it seems the business is doing rather well. The business is worth three times more than what George expected and he tells Karien he can’t afford to buy Wilmien’s share.
Mandla prepares Matrone for her competition in the final round of the Dazzling Dame Competition. She feels it’s just a matter of formality and basically has it in the bag.
Alyce is still struggling to find a job and Karien steps in to help. She offers Alyce accommodation so that she doesn’t have to sell her car to pay her rent at the guesthouse.
Nicholas Scott is offered the chance to present a course for two weeks at the university. He jumps at the chance to stay on longer and Renate is not happy about his sudden change of heart.
Oubaas speaks to Gert about making amends with Cheryl and to find accommodation for the two of them because Hilda needs her space. For once he listens to his uncle and goes out full force to buy all sorts of presents for Cheryl.
At first Cheryl is too stubborn to accept his gifts but Gert knows her all to well as present upon present is offered to her and she eventually forgives him.
Felicity is at the Boekwinkel when Xander walks in, he tries to speak to her about the two of them but she’s too angry and walks out on him.
Alyce and Inge speak about Tokkie and what might have been if Emma had’nt interfered. Inge refuses to hang onto a pipe dream and tells Alyce it’s all in the past.
Emma hears the news about Nicholas presenting the course and tells Mandla about it. Meanwhile, Madel is sitting in the Boekwinkel reading a newspaper when she hears what Emma has said about Nicholas. She looks very happy.
Perhaps we’ll get to see some action, I can’t take this dragging.
Emma and Dezi invite Inge out for drinks and she insists they go on ahead of her. It looks like she’s closing the chapter on Tokkie and she takes one last look at the article in the paper and throws it in the trash can. She looks up and who should walk in at the door, none other than Tokkie himself.
Will Felicity and Xander finally become an item, will Inge and Tokkie rekindle their romance and will Madel and Nicholas do more than just stare at each other.
