Season 3

The Inspector Lynley Mysteries is a British television drama series produced by the BBC about Detective Inspector Thomas "Tommy" Lynley, 8th Earl of Asherton of Scotland Yard and Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers.

In addition to the tensions involved in solving murder cases, the series thrives on the characters' clashes regarding personality, gender and class.

The series originally aired in the UK on the BBC from 12 March, 2001 to 1 June, 2008. There are 23 two-hour episodes in six seasons.

The Inspector Lynley Mysteries airs in South Africa on DStv's BBC Entertainment (formerly BBC Prime) channel. Episodes are split in two to make them an hour each in length, effectively doubling the number of episodes per season.

Synopsis

Based on the novels from the best-selling stories by Elizabeth George, this series of contemporary murder mysteries feature the charismatic Inspector Lynley, whose title as the Eight Earl of Asherton fuels a sparky relationship with his working class sidekick Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers.

Lynley and Havers are foisted upon one another by their boss at Scotland Yard to solve the murder of a farmer in Yorkshire. Sparks fly as plain, working-class Havers resents Lynley's charm, good looks and affluent lifestyle as the eighth Earl of Asherton.

But despite their personal differences, the pair crack the case and a mutual respect blossoms.

They are now close friends and confidantes, as well as colleagues, but will the relationship blossom further?
