Season 2

Family Secrets tells the story of the affluent intergenerational Mokwena family, who are bound together by their immense wealth and their terrible secrets, that if revealed could destroy them and all they have built.

The series plays out in a world of family feuds and industry rivalries which play out in skyscrapers, private jets, township streets and international boardrooms.

The series follows Africa's first black owner of a merchant bank, Caesar Mokwena, whose greatest ambition is to be the richest and most powerful financier in the whole world.

Complicating this ambition is his long-lost twin brother Dante, whose desire is to topple his brother and take back the empire he believes is his, by any means necessary.

Season 2 stars Mampho Brescia as Cleo Mokwena, Jamie Bartlett as D-Mag, Busiswa Mambi as Director General, Vusi Kunene as Hannibal Razor, Bafana Mthembu as Moses Mokwena, Buyile Mdladla as Themba Biko, Nalini Subrayen as Meghan Patel, Cedric Fourie as Unknown, Llewellyn Cordier as Barry White, Benni Langa as Gabriel Mokwena, Keaby Mashugane as Captain Neo, Tumi Malefo as Wheels and Angelique Gerber as Natasha Taylor, with Michael de Pinna as Burton Taylor.

In addition, the role of Caesar, played by Mangaliso Ngema in Season 1, is now played by Nimrod Nkosi.

In the Season 2 premiere, "The Rise of Dante Mokwena": All three Mokwena brothers are in the Criminal Investigative Unit custody after being publicly arrested when Dante tried to impersonate Caesar.

Now they must find their way out and as a family they all need to pull together and use all their skills to fool the CIU.

The Family Secrets universe and characters were created and developed by Bongani Sibeko, inspired by an original story by Palesa Princess Marobe.

The series is produced by SAWITA (South African Women in Television Arts), with executive producers Pulane Shomang and Bongani Sibeko; and producer Obakeng Octavius Mogotsi.

The series director is Mosese Semenya and the head writer is Bongani Sibeko.

The theme song was composed by Ngwato Mapalakanye and sung by Rochelle Esmeralda de Lange.
