Season 8

Waking the Dead is a British television crime drama series created by Barbara Machin which follows the work of a special police team who investigate "cold cases", usually murders that took place a number of years ago and were never solved.

The series aired in the UK on BBC One from 4 September, 2000 to 11 April, 2011. There are 92 hour-long episodes in nine seasons.

Waking the Dead aired in South Africa on DStv's BBC Entertainment (formerly BBC Prime) channel. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 8 originally aired on BBC Entertainment from 11 January to 1 March, 2010 on Mondays at 20h30. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are eight episodes in the eighth season.

Season 8

Waking The Dead returns for its darkest and most frightening season yet.

With new offices in an eerie basement, a new team member who has secrets of her own and a leader seemingly more reckless than ever, how will the Cold Case Squad survive?

Three months since the death of his son and a period of leave, Boyd is a man determined to get back to work with his team. Stella embarks on a last fateful mission for Boyd and we are introduced to DC Kat Howard, a new member of the Cold Case team.

Acclaimed script writer Ed Whitmore pens a dark story for the series about a brother and sister who are thrown from a 100ft bridge following a horrific attack. Twelve years on, will Boyd be able to give closure to the surviving sister?

Eve reveals that a man she has started a relationship with, but who she hardly knows, has been lying to her – she suspects he is involved in organised crime.

So she does a DNA test on him and runs the results through the national database. His DNA matches that found on a woman who was murdered thirteen years ago...

With stunning visual effects, a new score and ambitious stories that force the team to re-evaluate their relationships with each other, this season of Waking The Dead is deeper and darker than ever before.
