The Syndicate follows five workers at a cut-price supermarket in Leeds, UK, whose lives are turned upside down after they jointly win the lottery, going from facing redundancy and battling the present economic downturn to having more money than they ever dreamt of.
Will winning the lottery make their dreams or their nightmares come true? While they can afford their every desire, slowly they learn money doesn't always buy happiness.
Will a share of the jackpot help Mandy escape from the life she fears? Can money bring baby joy to Tom and his wife, or just more disappointment and loss? How will Alan be able to stay sober when everywhere he goes there's celebration and champagne? Can money buy Rose a new pair of knees so that she can dance again?
The Syndicate is an emotional roller-coaster shot through with pathos and humour as the hospital workers' lives are transformed overnight.
The Syndicate is written by Kay Mellor and produced by Rollem Productions for BBC One.
