Season 2

Hyperdrive is a British television science fiction sitcom created by Kevin Cecil and Andy Riley and produced by the BBC.

Set in 2151 (the same year as the first season of Star Trek: Enterprise), it follows the crew of HMS Camden Lock as they stumble through their heroic mission to protect British interests in a changing galaxy.

The series originally aired in the UK on BBC Two from 11 January, 2006 to 16 August, 2007. There are 12 half-hour episodes in two seasons.

The first season of Hyperdrive originally aired in South Africa on DStv's BBC Prime channel from 16 October to 20 November, 2007, on Tuesdays at 21h00.

Season 2 has not yet aired in South Africa.

Synopsis

It is 2151 and the British have launched a fleet of spaceships to explore the galaxy in the only way the British can. That means with a stiff upper lip and regular tea breaks.

Their mission? To export all things British - overpriced supermarkets, housing estates and call centres - to all corners, and to protect Britian's interests in a changing galaxy.

At the forefront of this expeditionary force is the HMS Camden Lock, helmed by the irrepressible, if a little tetchy, Commander Henderson.

Ably assisted by a crew of misfits (the further they are from Earth the better, quite frankly), the Commander steers his ship through the stars, giving orders from his big swivelly chair.

Experience the highs, the lows, the anti-gravity failures, the annoying talking mops, and, of course, the wars with alien races.

The series was written by Kevin Cecil and Andy Riley, directed by John Henderson and produced by Alex Walsh-Taylor.
