Bio

Miranda Hart is an English actress, writer and stand-up comedienne best known for her role as Teal in the television series Hyperdrive (2006-2007) and for writing and playing the title character in Miranda.

She also stars as Chummy Browne in the period drama television series Call the Midwife, for which she won Best Actress at the TV Choice Awards.

Miranda's excursion to the Edinburgh Festival in 1994 began her journey to becoming one of the UK's top comedians. After 10 years on the stand-up and sketch club circuit, Miranda made her mark appearing in Smack the Pony, Absolutely Fabulous, Hyperdrive and Not Going Out, but it was when her sitcom Miranda hit screens in 2009, that her popularity rocketed.

Her sitcom Miranda earned her four BAFTA nominations, three RTS awards and three Comedy Awards.

Before her own series was commissioned, Miranda played Barbara in BBC One's Not Going Out with Lee Mack, and earned a British Comedy Award nomination for her role in Hyperdrive alongside Nick Frost.

She has also appeared in Nighty Night, Smack the Pony, Absolutely Fabulous, Vicar of Dibley and Jack Dee's Lead Balloon. She also played a cameo in David Baddiel's feature film The Infidel.

She earned her reputation as a comedian from her stand-up and sketch shows at the Edinburgh Festival and on the London circuit. Her role as a stand-up has earned a place as a regular on the panel show circuit, including hosting Have I Got News For You.

Miranda's first book, Is It Just Me?, was published to great success.
