Season 13

Live is a South African live music show produced by Urban Brew Studios which covers the hottest happenings on the local and international music scene, the latest news, groundbreaking and dynamic artists, interviews, reviews and music videos.

The show is a rebranded version of its predecessor, One. In order to meet the changing demands of the evolving SABC1 audience, One was re-launched, re-branded and re-packaged in line with the new channel positioning.

The series premiered on SABC1 on Friday, 29 June 2007, at 21h00. When it premiered it was titled Live 7 as six seasons of One preceded it. Even though it is a different show, seasons are numbered as an extension of One. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 13 aired on SABC1 from 16 March to 31 August, 2012, on Fridays at 21h00. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 25 episodes in the thirteenth season, which was cut short by one episode after a personnel change.

Synopsis

The show covers the hottest happenings on the local and international music scene; the latest news; groundbreaking and dynamic artists; interviews; reviews; and music videos. There is also a live performance each week by a guest artist.

The primary aim of the show is to keep audiences up to speed with what has happened over the past seven days in the local music industry and elsewhere.

Former One presenter Andile Ncube was retained to host the new show Live, although for Live a female co-host - newcomer Bonang Matheba - was introduced.

Towards the end of April, 2008 Urban Brew - production house to the show - announced that Andile would be leaving as presenter to move into the role of executive producer. He presented his last show on Friday, 25 April 2008.

On Thursday, 24 April 2008 he said goodbye and thanked fans on TVSA with a message to them.

On Friday, 2 May 2008 the show introduced Metro FM DJ Tbo Touch as his replacement.

At the beginning of 2010 it was rumoured that Touch would be leaving the show. While this wasn't officially confirmed by SABC1, the rumours proved to be true as the channel and show launched a national Talent Search to find a new presenter.

The search took place between April and May 2010 and invited hopefuls to audition for the show. It resulted in four finalists, who were voted for by viewers.

T'bo Touch officially bid farewell to viewers on Friday, 4 June 2010 and on Saturday, 12 June 2010 Minenhle Dlamini was announced as the winner of the presenter search.

Roving reporter Phila Mazibuko replaced T'bo Touch as co-host alongside Bonang; and Minenhle took over Phila's role as roving reporter.

On Friday, 10 September 2010 Phila bid farewell to viewers and left the show to be a presenter on SABC1's new Mzansi Insider.

On Friday, 17 September 2010 SABC1 relaunched the show with Sizwe Dhlomo as the new co-host. The relaunch featured a live crossover transmission with SABC1's entertainment/gossip show RGB: Reloaded.

Towards the end of 2011 Sizwe Dhlomo left the show and the series launched another presenter search in early 2012 which was won by Luthando Shosha.

On Friday, 31 August 2012 Bonang Matheba hosted her final episode on the show and left to pursue her business interests and a new series on SABC1.

Luthando Shosha continues to host the show and was joined by new presenter DJ Warras from Season 14 onwards.
