Season 6
Tropika Island of Treasure 6 returns in a brand new format, shaking things up with a wild, fun and aspirational treasure hunt set on the tropical island of Mauritius.
Unlike past years, where celebrities formed half of the cast, this year six contestants were selected during a six-month call to action period.
Each month one winner was selected to experience "the Tropika Smoooth life", where they were spoilt with a penthouse apartment, featured in DRUM magazine, appeared on Live and RGB and ended the weekend with a VIP party experience thrown in the winner's honour.
After six months the competitive reality show had six contestants vying in physical and mental challenges, tasks and races to win R1-million.
Contestants
Over the course of six months, Tropika Island of Treasure had a product promotion for consumers of Tropika. Consumers could enter to win airtime prizes and a place as a contestant on the series.
Each contestant was announced on television during the SABC1 magazine show The Real Goboza, with three-minute inserts profiling the winners.
Contestant 1: Boitumelo "Diamond" Seakatsie
Diamond is 22 years old and was born and raised in Johannesburg. She currently works as a SAP marketing consultant and studies business and is a talented singer. Diamond has a powerful confidence about her and will stop at nothing to reach her goals. She has an edgy style and outspoken nature.
Contestant 2: Thando "Tdo" Hlophe
Thando is a 23-year-old gym fan and ladies man. This Mpumalanga-born contestant presently works in the IT field but is an aspiring entrepreneur with a dream to have his own property business one day. Thando has a charismatic personality and is a smooth talker.
Contestant 3: Mohau Pitso
Mohau is a 22-year-old student at University of Johannesburg currently studying his sports development degree. He has worked as a model but aspires to be a sports presenter. This handsome gentleman is playing his cards close regarding his strategy on the island but he has unscrupulous tendencies hiding behind his winning smile.
Contestant 4: Oratile Mokgwetsi
Oratile is a a vivacious and high spirited 22-year-old from Mafikeng, a young PR practitioner and an aspiring model. This pint-sized contestant has the energy and enthusiasm to go far in the competition.
Contestant 5: Athisten Cooper
Athisten Cooper is a normal guy working and studying politics, but he used to be a competitive swimmer.
Contestant 6: Natacia Mokoka
Natacia is an aspiring model from Tshwane but this beauty used to be a former SANDF employee - let's hope her strength shines as much as her beauty.
The sixth season was won by Thando Hlophe.
