Season 1

The Waters of Mars is a British television special and an episode of the science fiction television series Doctor Who, written and produced by Russell T. Davies, which sees the Doctor land on Mars, at a base in peril, where a creeping infection beneath the Martian surface threatens not only the human race but also the Doctor's most fundamental beliefs.

It is the second of four special episodes broadcast in the UK throughout 2009 and early 2010, which served as lead actor David Tennant's denouement as the Tenth Doctor. It originally aired in the UK on 15 November, 2009.

The Waters of Mars aired in South Africa on DStv's BBC Entertainment channel on Monday 25 October 2010, at 20h30. The special is an hour long.

Lindsay Duncan joins the Doctor as his sharpest and most strong-minded companion yet for the first of three final Doctor Who specials.

The Waters of Mars is a dark, scary thriller that sees the Doctor land on the planet Mars, at a base in peril. A creeping infection beneath the Martian surface threatens not only the human race but also the Doctor's most fundamental beliefs.

Together with Adelaide Brooke - the base's commander, played by Lindsay Duncan - the Doctor must defeat a seemingly unstoppable menace before it can reach Earth and wipe out mankind.

The Doctor must fight not only the water but destiny itself. While also confronting his own existence, when the prophecy about his future begins to resonate.

Is his song about to come to an end?
