Season 2

Law & Order: UK is the London-based spin-off from American creator Dick Wolf's acclaimed Law & Order franchise, which tells the stories of two separate yet equally important groups: the police, who investigate crime; and the attorneys, who prosecute the offenders.

Picking up from Season 1's cliff-hanging finale, The Crown Prosecution Service are still reeling in the aftermath of the previous seasons' heart-wrenching events, but there's little time for contemplation as a raft of new cases quickly pile up.

Season 2 kicks off with detective sergeants Ronnie Brooks and Matt Devlin investigating a seemingly open-and-shut case of murder on a colleague, constable Nick Bentley.

However testimony from a key witness tips the investigation into turmoil when Bentley's partner, constable Ray Griffin, is fingered as a possible accomplice in the crime.

Brooks and Devlin subsequently find holes in Griffin's statement, leading them to discover not only surprising details about the victim's personal life, but also a likely motive for the crime.

The cream of British acting talent is brought together in an ensemble cast to star in Law & Order: UK, which became an instant hit when the first season was broadcast in 2009.

Representing the front line is Bradley Walsh as DS Ronnie Brooks – a real East End cop, and friend and partner to the charismatic DS Matt Devlin (Jamie Bamber), whose approach to policing is part force, part seduction.

Both report to Harriet Walter as DI Natalie Chandler, a working mum who would back them to the end.

On the side of the Law is the Crown Prosecution Service team comprising Freema Agyeman as hard-working, strong-willed young prosecutor Alesha Phillips; Ben Daniels as dedicated Senior Crown Prosecutor James Steel, a man on a mission for justice; and Bill Paterson as their respected boss, CPS director George Castle, a man trying to balance his ideals with the bigger picture.
