Season 9

Tropika Island of Treasure is back for a ninth season and this year heads to the historical island of Curaçao in the Caribbean.

Here six celebrities pair up with six Tropika fans to compete for fame and fortune, and a treasure of R1-million.

Each week the pairs compete in a series of challenges, testing both their physical and mental strength, and taking them on an epic adventure around the island.

To make things tougher, this season introduces a social and strategic element, where contestants must work on building and maintaining alliances with other teams to avoid elimination.

In the end only one team will walk away with the grand prize.

In the Season 9 premiere, returning host Katlego Maboe welcomes six celebrities and six ordinary South Africans to the adventure of a lifetime in which they will compete for a grand prize of R1-million.

After a gruelling challenge upfront, contestants are paired up and the six teams are decided.

The Host – Katlego Maboe

Katlego Maboe is best known as the host of Expresso on SABC3. He also hosted two seasons of Strictly Come Dancing in 2014 and 2015, and was awarded Presenter of the Year at the 2015 and 2016 SAFTAs.
