Season 5

Black-ish is an American single-camera comedy series created by Kenya Barris which revolves around an African-American family man who struggles to gain a sense of cultural identity that both honours the past and embraces the future, whilst raising his kids in a predominantly white, upper-middle-class neighbourhood.

Like any parents, Andre "Dre" (Anthony Anderson) and Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross) Johnson want to give their children the best. But their offspring's childhood is turning out to be much different than theirs.

In the Season 5 premiere, "Gap Year": after dropping Junior off at college, Dre and Bow are beside themselves when they find him back at home announcing his decision to take a gap year.

Meanwhile, Jack and Diane begin to question whether they should still be sharing a room.

Black-ish stars Anthony Anderson as Andre "Dre" Johnson, Tracee Ellis Ross as Rainbow Johnson, Laurence Fishburne as Pops, Yara Shahidi as Zoey Johnson, Marcus Scribner as Andre Johnson Jr., Miles Brown as Jack Johnson, Marsai Martin as Diane Johnson, Jenifer Lewis as Ruby, Peter Mackenzie as Mr. Stevens and Deon Cole as Charlie Telphy.

Black-ish was created by Kenya Barris and is executive produced by Barris, Jonathan Groff, Stacy Traub, Anthony Anderson, Laurence Fishburne, Helen Sugland, E. Brian Dobbins and Corey Nickerson.

The series is produced by ABC Studios.
