Season 4

Featuring 13 new cases, the crime drama Motive faces its last round of investigations in its fourth and final season.

The show stays true to form with its signature teaser, introducing the audience to both the killer and the victim at the start of each episode. This unique twist allows the viewer to actively follow along with the detectives as they put the pieces together to solve the 'whydunit' of each case.

With the climactic Season 3 finale, viewers last saw Homicide Detectives Angie Flynn (Kristin Lehman) and Oscar Vega (Louis Ferreira) in the hospital hallway as Vega was wheeled into surgery to remove the tumor in his throat. Season 4 picks up three months later.

Vega came through the surgery with flying colours and exceeded his doctor's expectations for a speedy recovery. But while he's been recuperating, the Homicide team has been short-handed – especially after Staff Sergeant Detective Mark Cross (Warren Christie) requested a transfer to the Combined Special Enforcement Unit (CSEU).

Vega is the obvious choice to replace him, and though his absence has created space for Angie and Detective Brian Lucas' (Brendan Penny) partnership to flourish and deepen, they're both eager for Vega to get back to work as the unit isn't the same without him.

In this final season of Motive, each member of the Homicide Team will face pivotal choices about their future, as they set on a course of change, evolution, and deciding what they want their legacies to be.

Angie redefines her role within Homicide and Vega faces ethical dilemmas that may drive him out. Lucas succumbs to temptation on the job and must live with the consequences, while Dr. Rogers (Lauren Holly) faces a nightmare from her past. And, the detectives will all face their biggest professional challenge to date when a killer gets away.

Joining Season 4 in recurring roles are Victor Zinck Jr. (The 100) and Karen LeBlanc (Cracked), who are both set to don detective badges as they become the newest additions to the series' Homicide Team. Also joining this season is Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy) as visiting Interpol Agent Jack Stoker.

Season 4 extends the show's roster of guest stars to include Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), Alicia Witt (Justified), Tahmoh Penikett (Battlestar Galactica), Will Sasso (MADtv), Max Martini (Pacific Rim), Missy Peregrym (Rookie Blue) and Joanna Cassidy (Blade Runner).

Motive was created by Daniel Cerone (Dexter, The Mentalist), who executive-produces the show along with Louise Clark, Rob Merilees, Erin Haskett, Rob LaBelle, Lindsay Macadam, James Thorpe and Dennis Heaton. Developed by CTV, the series is produced by Foundation Features and Lark Productions in association with Bell Media, and distributed by NBCUniversal International.
