Synopsis

"This is my food lovers’ guide to Britain – there’s plenty of seafood in it of course, but more and more I’m interested in the quality of all food in this country, from pies to sausages, to lovingly made cheese, organic meats, beer – everything really – and I’ll be looking at all of those producers who value the taste of food above profit."

There’s usually something very fishy about Rick Stein, but in this new series the popular seafood chef is casting his net over all kinds of other food.

Rick Stein has always encouraged us to think carefully about the food we eat, to seek out the best-quality ingredients and to cook them simply.

In this series, Rick travels around Britain, searching out the best of all British produce, from bread and beer to lamb, cheese and a wealth of fruit and vegetables.

He meets the suppliers who emerge as true heroes of the industry, putting the importance of quality and taste above profit.

Of course, Rick will be cooking and has plenty of standard and new recipes to tempt everyone’s tastebuds, from Smoked Duck Breast Salad with New Potatoes to Fresh Raspberry Tart with Hazelnut and Coconut Pastry.

Rick also includes his own variations on more traditional dishes, such as The Definitive Welsh Rarebit.

Guaranteed to open viewer’s eyes to a wealth of exceptional produce, Rick Stein’s Food Heroes is both an inspirational collection of recipes and a delightful celebration of British ingredients and those who create them.

With his passion and enthusiasm for seafood, Rick has become one of UK’s most popular and respected chefs. This is his first move into general cookery and will be sure to broaden his appeal further.
