Season 1

Tropika selected 10 fans to pair up with 10 South African celebrities for the Tropika Island of Treasure challenge, which took place on the island paradise of Mauritius at the end of May 2008.

Celebrities and their fans participated as teams of two in the Amazing Race-style challenge and the winning duo shared R1-million.

The celebrities include Idols star Gift Gwe, Rhythm City actress and songstress, Pam Andrews, champion surfer and sports model Roxy Louw, R&B singer Loyiso Bala, vocalists Kelly Khumalo and Nadine, and comedians Kagiso Lediga and Joey Rasdien as well as Heino Schmitt, better known as Altus de Bruyn on 7de Laan.

Winners and celebrities flew to Mauritius in the last week of May and spent a week enjoying Mauritian-style hospitality at the Tamassa Hotel. South African fans were able to log on to the website to read up on the progress the teams made on their daily blog updates.

Fans needed to purchase a drink to choose from a list of celebrities they could be competing with and follow the on-pack guidelines by smsing their favourite celeb's name, their name, age and cellphone number to 34115.
