Description

Lipstick Jungle is an American television dramedy created by DeAnn Heline and Eileen Heisler and based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Candace Bushnell, about three high-powered friends who have all made "New York's 50 Most Powerful Women" list.

The series premiered in the USA on NBC on 7 February, 2008. It was cancelled on 28 March, 2009. There are 20 hour-long episodes in two seasons.

Lipstick Jungle premiered in South Africa on SABC3 on Monday 29 September 2008, at 21h00, replacing the second season of Desperate Housewives. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 2 premiered on SABC3 on Tuesday 20 October 2009, at 21h00. New episodes air on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. There are 13 episodes in the second season.

Season 1

Based on the best-selling book by Candace Bushnell (Sex and the City), this drama follows three high-powered friends as they weather the ups and downs of lives lived at the top of their game.

Movie exec Wendy (Brooke Shields) does everything she can to balance career and family. Nico (Kim Raver), editor-in-chief of a hot fashion magazine, has her eye on becoming CEO.

And free-spirited designer Victory (Lindsay Price) longs to make her dreams come true, and maybe find "Mr. Right" along the way.

Armed with humour and strength, these three modern New York women support one another through the triumphs and tears that are all part of making it big in the Big Apple.

Also starring are Andrew McCarthy (Joy Luck Club), Julian Sands (24), David Alan Basche (United 93), David Norona (Frasier), Paul Blackthorne (Big Shots) and Robert Buckley (Fashion House).

Season 2

Season 2 sees Mary Tyler Moore joining the cast for a multi-episode guest role as Joyce, a retired high-powered executive and mother of Brooke Shields' character Wendy who will challenge her daughter's idealistic notion of "having it all".

Meanwhile, despite ditching her mega-hot boyfriend Kirby Atwood, Kim Raver's magazine editor Nico Reilly will reunite with her flame.

Finally, Lindsay Price's character fashion designer Victory Ford is coming to terms with her billionaire boyfriend's betrayal (Andrew McCarthy returns as Joe Bennett) and focuses her energy on opening a new store.

Rodrigo, the hunky contractor taking care of the construction, will give Joe a run for his money. Rodrigo is played by Puerto Rican singer Carlos Ponce and his character promises to be the antithesis of McCarthy's character.

Rosie Perez also joins the show as a feisty publicist, who is at the top of her game.
