What do you get when you take the Vicar of Dibley and Edina from Absolutely Fabulous and put them together on a sketch show?
You get French And Saunders, an hilarious comedy show which finds Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French taking the mickey out of TV, movies and most of all themselves.
Every episode finds these two leading British comediennes parodying a famous movie or television show. Titanic, Dr Quinn and The Matrix are just a few of the things they’ve skewed.
Along the way many of Britain’s top actors and celebs make an appearance.
The show first aired in the UK in 1987 and had five seasons until 1996. After that it went into hiatus, although French and Saunders kept it alive through various Christmas specials.
A sixth season was shot after an eight-year break, in 2004, which had a final six episodes.
