Synopsis

The Guard tells the story of four members of the Canadian Coastguard's Search and Rescue team, and their daily battles both in and out of the water. The series was shot in the scenic wilderness of Squamish, British Columbia.

Heroes are men and women, human beings with flaws and weaknesses, who knowingly place themselves at risk in order to save another. A hero should also know to never expect thanks.

Port Hallet is one of the most beautiful, and treacherous, places on Earth, where the Pacific Ocean collides into the mountainous coastline of British Columbia. Here, human beings go up against nature at their peril – because nature almost always wins.

Rescue Specialists know that disasters follow few rules and decisions, which may cost or save lives, are made as quickly as reflexes allow.

The Guard is a series about Search and Rescue specialists of the Canadian Coast Guard who are forced to make such decisions in their thankless quest to save lives.

Steve Bacic stars as maverick Captain Miro Da Silva; Jeremy Guilbaut stars as Rescue Specialist Andrew Vanderlee; Zoie Palmer stars as Rescue Specialist Carly Greig; and Sonya Salomaa stars as ambitious First Mate Laura Nelson.

The Guard also features Roger Cross, Mieko Ouchi, Ryan Robbins, Gordon Woolvett, Julie Patzwald, Eve Harlow and special guest appearances by David James Elliott.

Propelled with adrenaline-pumping action as the Cape Pacific races against the elements and the clock and the crew plunges into the sea on desperate rescue missions, The Guard focuses not only on the rescue workers’ valiant attempts to save lives on the water, but also how, on shore, they struggle to keep their personal lives afloat.

In life, as in work, these individuals strive to do the right thing, never entirely sure what that is.

The one thing the Canadian Coast Guard rescue specialists at Port Hallet know is that where there is life, there is always a horizon of hope.
