About the Show

Derren Brown: Something Wicked This Way Comes is a British variety television special produced by Objective Productions which captures illusionist Derren Brown's stage show of the same name, filmed at the Old Vic theatre in London in 2006.

It aired as a 90-minute TV special in the UK on Channel 4 on 29 December, 2006. The title is a direct quote from Shakespeare's Macbeth.

Derren Brown: Something Wicked This Way Comes aired for the first time in South Africa on DStv's BBC Prime channel on Monday 4 August 2008, at 22h30.

Synopsis

This powerful and darkly-disturbing fusion of magic, suggestion, psychology and misdirection is a specially televised version of Derren Brown's Olivier award-winning live show.

Shot in real time, in front of a packed audience at the Old Vic, London, this show is not for the faint-hearted.

Be prepared for plenty of audience participation, shocking stunts and subliminal mind games from this unique and unsettling entertainer, as he demonstrates why he is one of the country's most exciting live performers.

Something Wicked This Way Comes, directed by Andy Nyman, was a sell-out tour in 2005 and 2006, playing in over 100 theatres and culminating with the 2006 Olivier award for Best Entertainment Show.

On stage and well as on TV Derren Brown is in a class of his own, exhilarating audiences with his unique brand of intelligent and theatrical entertainment.

His Mind Control and Trick of the Mind TV programmes have garnered rave reviews and award nominations and in 2003 Derren won The Silver Rose in the Variety Category at Rose d'Or, Montreux.
