About the Show

How to Ruin Love: The Proposal is a South African comedy-drama television series which revolves around Zoleka, who sabotages her relationship with her fiance just days before Valentine's Day.

A spin-off of How to Ruin Christmas, we are introduced to another set of equally chaotic and messy families.

The series follows the ever-so-cynical Zoleka (Sive Mabuya), who lets her insecurities get the best of her and sabotages her engagement to her long-term boyfriend Kagiso (Bohang Moeko), just days before Valentine's Day.

Zoleka believes Kagiso is cheating on her and decides to follow him, hoping to catch him in the act.

However, things are not as they seem, and her suspicions lead to heartbreak.

Desperate to make things right, Zoleka cooks up a series of hair-brained schemes (with the help of her friends, family and future in-laws) to try and win back his trust - before Kagiso walks away for good.

Her overprotective dad is played by Dumisani Mbebe, her over-the-top aunt Dabs is played by Tina Jaxa and her future parents-in-law are played by Marjorie Langa and John Morapama.

The series also stars Sandile Mahlangu, S'dumo Mtshali, Thando Thabethe, Noxolo Dlamini, Nefisa Mkhabela, Mapaseka Koetle, Thabo Malema and Shoki Mmola.

How to Ruin Love: The Proposal was created by Rethabile Ramaphakela and Katleho Ramaphakela and is produced by Burnt Onion Productions.

The executive producers are Tshepo Ramaphakela, Katleho Ramaphakela and Rethabile Ramaphakela; Phuthi Nakene is the series producer.

The head writer is Lwazi Mvusi, with a writing team including Neo Sibiya, Joulian Koboekae, Fanyana Hlabangane, Lihle Msimang and Lurdes Maswanganye.

Directors include Johnny Barbuzano and Ferry Jele and the music composer is Sam Mahlalela.
