About the Show

Sunrise is a South African news and actuality breakfast television show hosted by Graeme Richards and Sindy Mabe which covers the latest news in politics, sport, business, health, entertainment, weather and traffic.

The show replaces Morning Edition (formerly The Toasty Show) in e.tv's 06h00-08h00 slot.

Sunrise premiered on e.tv on Monday 31 March 2008, at 06h00.

Synopsis

Sunrise covers all aspects affecting our world, from the latest news in politics, sport, business, health, entertainment, weather and traffic updates.

The show also takes an in-depth look at the local and international music industry, interviews popular celebrities and peeks at what there is to watch at the movies.

Sunrise is a multi-platform show which will allows viewers to interact with hosts, Sindy Mabe and Graeme Richards. The viewers are able to voice their opinions by phoning in, emailing or SMSing their comments.

Conception

Morning Edition was replaced by Sunrise as part of a precursor to the e.news 24-hour news channel that will launch at the beginning of June.

Sunrise is the 24-hour news channel's flagship morning programme and will be stripped to be "simulcast" and be shown at the same time on the free-to-air e.tv channel.

Sunrise sports a trendy new look and also new presenters, is more newsy with more fixed features, inserts and more cutting edge since it is manned by the people running the 24-hour news operation.

The channel prepared Sunrise for an April debut so that morning show runners are already used to producing the morning chat-fest by the time the news channel starts two months later.
