e.tv is looking to hire a writer/researcher to work on the channel's daily morning show Sunrise.
Position location: Johannesburg.
Reporting to the show's Executive Producer, this is what your responsibilities would be on the job:
- Prepare and assist with show run down.
- Liaise with the news department source news for show overnight.
- Liaise with executive producer.
- Work on morning bulletins and content.
- Subediting of stories sourced overnight.
- Source new stories for the bulletins and show.
- Craft and refresh introductions, news reports and packages for the live show.
- Check wire services, news feeds for breaking news and updates.
- Troubleshoot and take directions.
- Coordinate delivery of scripts and interviews.
- Compile daily hand-over reports.
- Research stories and write scripts for interviews.
- Contribute to story ideas and help with conceptualizing content for the show.
- Script and produce packages and inserts for the show when required.
- Check and rewrite links for the show daily and consistently.
- Do voiceover work for packages when necessary.
- Arrange and set up interviews when required.
- Conduct live and pre- recorded interviews during and outside of the show.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Journalism.
- Should have at least 3 years broadcasting experience.
- Good general knowledge, thorough understanding of South African politics and players involved.
- Working knowledge of quality of visuals and scripts.
- Ability to identify sources and network.
- A developed culture of reading and news sense.
- Ability to develop story ideas.
- Be a team player and work well with camera operators.
- Work to strict deadlines and display initiative.
- Be prepared to work early morning shifts and flexible hours at times.
