About the Show

Code Green is a South African magazine/quiz edutainment series combining a magazine lifestyle insert and two in-studio challenges comprising of a quiz and a game which is about three main things: conserving energy, preserving our natural habitat and saving the rhino.

Code Green celebrates the fact that throughout history Africans have always lived in harmony with nature.

The magazine lifestyle segment of the show includes a celebrity insert where each week Code Green takes a local celebrity guest to a place that practices conservation.

The celebrity has the opportunity to engage in an exciting and often adventurous conservation activity at the chosen location, such as Lion Tracking at Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park, the release of endangered Vultures in the uKhahlamba Drakensburg Mountains, a World Heritage Site or crocodile wrangling at iSimangaliso Wetland Park.

The celebrity guest is also interviewed on their career, future plans and their thoughts on conservation.

Featured celebrities include Pearl Thusi, Lunga Shabalala, Nomzamo Mbatha, Khaya Mthethwa, Zizo Beda, Pallance Dladla, Sdumo Mtshali, Nandi Mngoma, Spinach and Popeye and many more.

In the studio segment contestants from two schools earn points and battle it out for the title of Rhino Champions for that week with the support of a studio audience from their schools.

The first challenge is a quiz titled L.O.L (Lalela Out Loud) where contestants answer questions based on video clips. The next challenge, GAME ON, is an in-studio activity where contestants play a game based on the theme for the week.

Code Green endeavours to educate in a fun, exciting and interactive manner, inspiring anyone who watches it to protect our natural habitat, biodiversity and endangered species as well as take a stand in decreasing global warming by reducing his or her individual carbon footprint.

Code Green aims to encourage our youth to identify and understand the role they play in their communities, South Africa and the world at large so they can become actively involved in order to save their environment.

The series is produced by NB Media and Productions.
