About the Show

Behind the Name is a South African documentary series created by Nicky Greenwall and Tamarin Kaplan which goes "behind the name" of some of South Africa’s biggest showbiz personalities, chronicling their rise to fame.

Behind the Name originally aired on e.tv from 5 September to 7 November, 2007, on Wednesdays at 20h00. There are 10 half-hour episodes in the series.

A rebroadcast of the series premiered on e.tv on Tuesday 28 July 2009, at 21h00.

Synopsis

Created by Nicky Greenwall of The Showbiz Report and freelance producer/director Tamarin Kaplan, Behind The Name features never-before-seen footage, interviews and insights into some of the country’s most famous faces.

Each episode features interviews with a particular celebrity, his or her closest friends and family as well as colleagues and peers in the industry.

The first season features the following South African celebrities:

Kuli Roberts and Hlubi Mboya
Colin Moss
Pieter Dirk Uys
Kim Engelbrecht
