About the Show

Top Entertainment is a South African entertainment magazine show produced by Lucky Bean Media and Rizn Media and hosted by hip hop musician AKA and Ayanda Thabethe which is a weekly review of the latest trends and developments in the local music, fashion and entertainment industries.

It was the first locally-produced show commissioned by TopTV.

The series premiered on Top One on Friday 2 November 2012, at 19h00. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 26 hour-long episodes in the series.

Synopsis

Top Entertainment is hosted by award-winning hip hop musician Kiernan Forbes, better known as AKA. Presenting the weekly, hour-long show alongside AKA are three fresh new faces to television – Ayanda Thabethe, Keitumetse Naomi and Chanelle Ellaya.

Top Entertainment is a weekly review of the latest trends and developments in the local music, fashion and entertainment industries.

The show promises an insight into the lives of some of the biggest names in the music scene and covers the latest fashion trends, events and celebrity news, while showcasing the latest music videos.

On their weekly journey through the programme, AKA and his three co-presenters, Ayanda, Keitumetse and Chanelle, introduce the various segments of the show from interesting locations.

Included in the line-up is rare footage of behind-the-scenes exposés of music video shoots and stage performances. The presenters also give a round-up of what's happening around town, so the viewers know where and when they should be hanging out each weekend.

Each week, the programme's presenters take viewers on a trip around the country's music and entertainment hotspots. Each episode of Top Entertainment follows the journey of a successful musician, reflecting on the blood, sweat and behind-the-scenes tears often shed by local entertainers on their road to success and stardom.

Top Entertainment reflects on the hard-hitting realities of life in the cut-throat entertainment industry, which is not always about the glitz and glamour but more about the hard work and passion that leads to a successful career.
