About the Show

Blue Mountain State is an American sports comedy television series created by Eric Falconer and Chris Romano which follows the on and off-field antics of three incoming freshmen as they learn to adapt to life at a fictional mid-Western college (the Blue Mountain State of the title) where football and footballers are top dog.

The series aired in the USA on Spike from 11 January, 2010 to 30 November, 2011. There are 39 half-hour episodes in three seasons.

Blue Mountain State premiered in South Africa on DStv's Vuzu channel on Thursday 4 March 2010, at 20h30. It later aired on DStv's MTV channel. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 3 premiered on Vuzu on Thursday 21 June 2012, at 22h30. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 13 episodes in the third and final season.

Season 1

A football comedy, Blue Mountain State taps into the frenzied comedic vein of classic Animal House and is inspired by the irreverent dorm-room spirit of John Belushi.

Blue Mountain State follows the hilarious on and off-field antics of three incoming freshmen as they learn to adapt to life at a fictional mid-Western college (the Blue Mountain State of the title) where football and footballers are top dog.

Among the cast members juggling football, girls, studying and nonstop hazing are Alex Moran (Darin Brooks), a talented but lazy quarterback, who is content to ride the bench to allow time for partying with his best friend Sammy Cacciatore (Chris Romano), a wannabe team mascot who is fresh out of rehab.

Craig Shilo (Sam Jones III) is the team's star player and living proof that focus, hard work, and dedication do pay off. This Freshman running back and future pro-footballer is considered one of the most elite prospects in the nation, and has his whole life already mapped out for him by his controlling girlfriend, Denise Roy (Gabrielle Dennis).

The cast also includes Thad Castle (Alan Ritchson), the team's over-the-top captain who interprets his role as team leader as an obligation to haze the incoming freshman.

Former real-life NFL running back and veteran actor, Ed Marinaro, stars as the long-suffering coach Marty Daniels, a six-time National Champion, and long-standing pillar of the BMS community, who has his eye on the prize but his work cut out to mould this unruly group into a team.

Season 2

Season two of Blue Mountain State finds Coach Marty Daniels under pressure to deliver a winning season after an embarrassing showing last year that has put his legacy and job security in danger.

Adding to the coach's troubles is the arrival of his contentious and meddling ex-wife Debra (Denise Richards).

The BMS Goats are led on the field by overzealous team captain Thad Castle, who struggles with the decision to go pro after this season or return to BMS, and top recruit Radon Randell (Page Kennedy) whose talent is matched only by his outrageous behaviour and huge ego.

Off the field, the team is once again led by Alex Moran, the second string quarterback who is content riding the bench, and his best friend and team mascot Sammy Cacciatore.

Sammy's troubles also multiply this season when his wild, crazy and sexy party-girl sister Mary Jo (Frankie Shaw) transfers to BMS.

Season 3

In Season 3, Coach Daniels will have his authority challenged when the boosters force him to hire a hotshot offensive coordinator/head coach-in-waiting.

Alex, played by Emmy Award-winner Darin Brooks, will have to step up in Season 3 from being a fun-loving second-string to the starting Quarterback.

The cast also includes Thad, played by Alan Ritchson, the team's over-the-top team captain and Sammy, the team's mascot, played by Romanski.
