Keeno-Lee Hector as Ivan “Ice” Matroos.
Ice is someone from Erica’s past, a figure who played a significant role in her early life and now returns unexpectedly.
He is rough and blunt, but also a man with a soft side - especially when it comes to Erica.
This from Keeno:
Keeno: “He’s like a tough candy with a soft centre.
He’s not a bad man. He just makes decisions without thinking about the consequences.
I understand where he goes wrong, and that helps me forgive him for his mistakes."
To prepare for the role, Keeno studied the script carefully and based the character on someone from his own life.
Keeno: “As soon as I think of that person, I know how Ice moves, talks and reacts. It makes it easy for me to bring him to life convincingly.”
He debuts on Wednesday 3 September 2025.

Keeno: “Roxanne Blaise, one of the directors on Skemergrond, and I have played husband and wife in Penguin Films’ Khululekha: Siyavota. So, we work together comfortably.
And working with Shimmy again was a highlight - she’s incredibly generous, and our friendship makes it easy to explore the emotions of a scene together.”

He has a daily radio show on Smile 90.4FM called Lunch with Keeno-Lee.
He's been with the band The Black Ties for 18 years, with Chad Saaiman and Lloyd Jansen. Keeno's on vocals.
