Little Britain USA is an American spin-off of the British sketch comedy television series Little Britain created by Ben Silverman, David Walliams, Matt Lucas and Simon Fuller and produced by 19 Entertainment.
As in the British series, Lucas and Walliams play the majority of the characters, such as Lou and Andy, Daffyd Thomas, Sebastian Love, Marjorie Dawes and Vicky Pollard, as well as new characters not seen in the British series.
The series premiered in the USA on HBO on 28 September, 2008. A second season was commissioned.
Little Britain USA premiered in South Africa on M-Net on Tuesday 14 April 2009, at 22h30. There are six half-hour episodes in the first season.
Synopsis
Although South African audiences may not recognize their names, Matt Lucas and David Walliams command superstar status in their native Britain, which first began flighting their quirky comedy series Little Britain in 2001.
Originally a radio series, it eventually made the leap to television in 2003.
The success of the original inspired the comedic duo to make the move to the U.S., much like The Office, and Little Britain USA was created.
The American spin-off includes a host of new characters including a grandmother who shares strange and often inappropriate facts about her past with her grandson and a pair of bank-robbers too timid to actually rob a bank.
Famous names who are set to appear on the show include Paul Rudd, Hilarie Burton and Sting. David Schwimmer occupied the role of director in many segments of the show.
