Anyone see Maggie Benedict on Zaziwa on Wednesday? I really enjoyed the story she shared about her surname.

In case you missed it, she told Pearl that her whole family decided on the surname after her father decided that he wanted their family to break away and form their own tribe. From the sounds of it he has a very independent spirit.

Her family spent ages thinking of a new surname and weren't happy with anything they came up with so they turned their attention to Maggie's dad's middle name. His middle name's Benedict so they decided to go with that. They've had the surname for about 10 years.

Tashi, i once read an interview Maggie did with Real magazine and she was also talking about the surname. Maggie is Tswana, born and bred around Pretoria, all the languages she picked up at school, so shes not coloured @Favoured...I found the story around her surname very interesting...
