Bio

Kate Vernon (born 1961) is a Canadian actress best known for her role as Ellen Tigh on the sci-fi television series Battlestar Galactica, from 2004-2009.

Vernon was born in Canada. Her father, character actor John Vernon, best known for his role as Dean Wormer in Animal House, moved the family to Hollywood when she was 7 years old.

Vernon has said that since she was raised in an arts-oriented family in Los Angeles, testing the "acting" waters came natural. As a child, with acting, she found tremendous joy in having a safe and creative channel for her energies and ideas.

To date, Vernon's work includes guest-starring and recurring roles on Nash Bridges, Who's the Boss, LA Law, and Hunter, among others. And she has starred in numerous television films on the USA, Showtime, Hallmark, HBO and Lifetime cable channels.

Vernon has also had the extreme pleasure of working with such great actors as Denzel Washington in Malcom X, James Spader in Pretty in Pink, Tony Curtis, Ian McShane, Dick van Dyke, Lou Diamond Phillips, and directors Spike Lee, John Woo, Howie Deutch and Mimi Leder.

She currently resides in Los Angeles with her daughter, loves meeting fans of Battlestar Galactica and continues to pursue more film and television projects.
