Vanessa Ray is a Canadian actress best known for starring in the docu-reality television series Marriage Under Construction, in 2007.
Ray was born in the Bay Area of California. She knew she wanted to be an actress ever since she saw a production of The Music Man at the local high school. Vanessa and her brother then crashed an audition for Oliver and they both landed parts.
It was there that her love of the stage was born. Vanessa’s family relocated to the northwest where Vanessa continued her artistic endeavours. She played the cello with the Portland Youth philharmonic and sang in the Portland Opera children’s chorus.
In her senior year of high school, her family relocated again to Las Vegas. Vanessa attended the Las Vegas Academy for the performing arts to finish high school. After graduating, Vanessa moved to Los Angeles to further pursue her acting career.
She starred in the kids series The Sparky Chronicles and One Girl Revolution. She then got back to her stage roots performing in such musicals as Chess, Brigadoon and Footloose.
After a series of intense auditions in both New York and LA, Vanessa landed the title role in Disney’s musical Finding Nemo, where she worked with Tony Award wining director Peter Brosius and Tony Award winning writers Bobby and Kristen Lopez.
