Bio

Colin Buchanan is a Scottish actor best known for his role as the sensitive and intellectual Pascoe, alongside Warren Clarke's rugged and politically incorrect Dalziel, in the television drama series Dalziel and Pascoe, from 1996-2007.

His first big break on television came in 1992, playing Police Constable Austin in the detective series A Touch of Frost.

Before landing the role of Pascoe, he was best known for playing Hodge in the award-winning Territorial Army drama All Quiet on the Preston Front.

Colin's also had leading roles in Catherine Cookson's The Secret and The Pale Horse.
His other credits include Moll Flanders, Witness Against Hitler, Heartbeat and The Bill.

He was re-united with All Quiet on the Preston Front co-star Alistair McGowan in 2000, when the duo, along with comedian Sean Hughes, starred in a run of the West End stage show Art.

In 1992, Colin appeared in the film Red Hot, which also starred Donald Sutherland.

Many people were fooled by the Lancashire accent Colin adopted for All Quiet on the Preston Front and didn't realise he was in fact a Scot. Colin's still waiting for an opportunity to use his native accent on-screen.

Before becoming an actor, Colin worked as a builder, a delivery man, and sang in a couple of rock groups.

His first acting job saw him play all the male characters in a touring production of La Ronde for Actors Touring Company.

Colin's often mistaken for ex-footballer Alan Shearer.

When he's not acting, Colin enjoys football, rugby and swimming. He's a big fan of Birmingham City F.C.

Colin was born in Dundee. In 1991 he graduated from the London Drama Centre.

He lives in Birmingham, where Dalziel and Pascoe was filmed, with his long-term partner Kim and their daughters Kira and Maya.
