Bio

Daniel Gillies is a Canadian-born New Zealand actor best known for his role as John Jameson in the 2004 action film Spider-Man 2; and as Elijah in the horror television series The Vampire Diaries and its spinoff series The Originals.

He also stars as Dr. Joel Goran, new orthopaedic surgeon at Hope Zion and Alex's former lover, in the supernatural medical drama television series Saving Hope.

He has also appeared in the movies No One Can Hear You (2001); Various Positions (2002); Trespassing (2004); Bride & Prejudice (2004); and Captivity (2007); and in the 2002 made-for-TV movie Snow Queen.

He has had recurring roles in the television series Street Legal and Jeremiah, and guest appearances on Cleopatra 2525; Mentors; and Master Of Horror.

He also had a role in the 2005 mini-series Into The West.

Gillies has been married to actress Rachael Leigh Cook since 8 August, 2004. They appeared together in Into the West.
