Bio
Thulani Mtsweni is a South African actor best known for his role as Sibiya on the SABC3 soapie Isidingo.
Born in Tsakane township near Johannesburg, he began his acting career in community theatre.
Upon turning professional he has acted in numerous theatre productions and festivals, including Drama for Life at Wits University, The National Arts Festival and The Vrystaat Arts Festival.
Thulani made his television acting debut with a guest role in the second season of the Mzansi Magic soapie Isibaya, in 2014.
In the same year he played a young version of Petrus (played by Yule Masiteng) in the SABC1 drama series Kowethu.
In 2017 he landed his breakout role as a miner called Sibiya in the SABC3 soapie Isidingo, making his first appearance in an episode which aired on 24 May that year.
He and Nasiphi Ntabeni (Cebisa) were nominated in the category Outstanding Couple for their roles in Isidingo at the fourth Royalty Soapie Awards, in 2020.
In the same year he landed a major recurring role as thug Nyoka on the Mzansi Magic drama series iNumber Number, based on the film of the same name. He first appeared in the series premiere on 9 July, 2017.
At the end of the year he began another recurring role, this time as Gedleyihlekisa on the e.tv soapie Rhythm City, first appearing in an episode which aired on 27 Devember, 2017.
Thulani's next television role was as Shisanyama manager Bongani in the Mzansi Magic soapie Gomora, first appearing in Season 1, Episode 133 (which aired on 10 June, 2020). He returned to the role for Season 2, in 2021.
He returned to Isibaya to play the role of Mpihlangene, Mpiyake's brother who charms unsuspecting people with the tip of his hat, in the final season of the soapie, first appearing in Season 8, Episode 144 (which aired on 22 October, 2020).
In the same year he had a cameo role as a guard in an episode of the BET telenovela Isono which aired on 8 December, 2020 (Season 1, Episode 42).
The following year he landed his first starring role in television when he was cast as Malusi Buthelezi in the SABC1 thriller miniseries Hush Money, which debuted on 19 September, 2021.
