Brent Vermeulen is a South African actor best known for his starring role as Xander Malan in the kykNET drama series Spoorloos: Steynhof.

Born and raised in Cape Town, he matriculated from Hoërskool Paarl Gimnasium in 2019, having studied drama, theatre and the arts.

His screen acting debut was a starring role in the 2018 feature film The Harvesters, written and directed by Etienne Kallos.

His television acting debut was the recurring role of Johan, Elani's (Greteli Fincham) new love interest who supports her in all her decisions, in the kykNET drama series Alles Malan (Everything Malan).

His first appearance in the role was in Season 1, Episode 2, which aired on 16 July, 2019.

Brent next landed another recurring role, this time as Barend Strachan in the M-Net thriller series Trackers, which premiered on 27 October, 2019.

Also in 2019, he played the role of Henry de Waal in the feature film Griekwastad.

Brent played the lead role of Paul in an episode of the kyKNET anthology series 4 Mure (4 Walls), based in a hotel room into which intriguing characters move in an and out.

The episode - "Paul + Zoe" - first aired on 19 January, 2021 (in Season 1, Episode 2).

Just a month later he began playing the recurring role of Divan Fourie in the kykNET drama series Afgrond, first appearing in the series premiere on 17 February, 2021.

In the same year Brent landed his first starring role in television, this time in the lead role of Xander Malan in the third season of the kykNET anthology drama series Spoorloos.

His character is the highly intelligent school friend of Adri (Jane de Wet), who helps her to find out that she was abducted as a baby 15 years earlier.

Spoorloos: Steynhof premiered on 6 July, 2021.
