Bio

Jason Willemse is a South African actor best known for his role as Cameron Jansen in the e.tv soapie Scandal!.

He completed a diploma at Northlink College in Cape Town in 2006 which included several subjects, including entrepreneurship and business management, marketing management and a computer skills program.

He also did the first year of a National Certificate in Drama at Northlink, after which he completed the next two years of the diploma at the Tshwane University of Technology.

He furthered his acting studies with renowned actress and drama coach Dorothy Ann Gould.

Jason's television debut was a guest role in an episode of the SABC1 sitcom City Ses'la, in 2012.

The following year he was cast in the recurring role of Cameron Jansen in the e.tv soapie Scandal!, making his first appearance in the role on 5 August, 2013.

His character began as the first of a new family of five who joined the series - the Jansens - who joined the Scandal! world when Cameron was appointed as a security guard at Safe and Clean.

However, the transition for the young man in his new place of employment was not an easy one as family secrets from his past followed him to Johannesburg.

Jason continued to play the role until the 2016 season, when his character arc came to a natural conclusion.

During his time on Scandal! he also had a starring role in the kykNET drama series Vlug na Egipte (Flight to Egypt) as Abdoel Arendse, an extrovert who wants to be an entrepreneur - as well as the first guy Breggie Petersen (Kay Smith) sleeps with.

The series aired on kykNET from January to April, 2015; and later aired on SABC2 in 2017.

Also in 2015, Jason recurred as Riaan Huisman on the SABC3 drama series Roer Jou Voete (Move Your Feet), about a talented young dancer who falls foul of a nasty drug lord and discovers that his only hope to survive is a Latin and Ballroom Dance School in a forgotten Karoo town.

The 26-episode series aired on SABC3 from 29 July, 2015 to 3 February, 2016. It later aired on SABC2 as well, in 2019.

After leaving Scandal! in 2016, Jason landed another recurring role - this time as Clifford in the SABC1 soapie Generations: The Legacy, making his first appearance on 21 November, 2016.

He has also acted in a number of kykNET short films, including Skrikkeljaar and Die Webley.

In 2021, Jason landed the starring role of Wendell in the SABC1 telenovela uBettina Wethu, based on the international series Ugly Betty.

The series premiered on 5 April, 2021.
