Sherman Pharo is a South African actor best known for his starring role as Thys Cupido on the kykNET & kie soapie Arendsvlei.

Hailing from the fishing village of Hawston near Hermanus in the Overberg region of the Western Cape, Sherman is a fisherman by trade who started acting in 2003.

In his early years as an actor her performed mostly in theatre with the Hawston Drama Group, with roles in productions including Somma Soe, Perlemoen My Ghoen, Tussen Hemel en Aarde, Die Keise, Lewensdraad, Vrygrond and Kop Stamp.

Sherman also acted in numerous films including Time of the Snake, The Occurrence, Zulu, Lenteblom, Krotoa, Finders Keepers, Thys & Trix, Ellen Pakkies and Bhai's Cafe.

His first television acting role was a guest role in the SABC1 drama series Divers Down, in 2007.

Since then he has worked steadily in television with roles in numerous productions including the e.tv soccer drama Shooting Stars, the SABC2 sitcom Stokvel, the SABC1 drama series Montana, the SABC1 voter education series Khululeka, two different characters in the kykNET crime anthology series Die Boland Moorde, the American action series SAF3, the kykNET sitcoms Treknet and Vinkel & Koljander, and the e.tv cop drama Traffic!.

Sherman gained greater prominence when he wast in the recurring role of Ismail Davids on the kykNET soapie Suidooster, making his first appearance in Season 2, Episode 124 (which aired on 28 November, 2016).

In 2017 he had guest roles in the kykNET drama series Sara se Geheim and Die Boekklub. He also played the role of Ashwin's (Dillon Windvogel) abusive, drug-dealing uncle Tommy in the kykNET & kie contemporary youth drama danZ!.

He followed this up with a guest roles in the kykNET dramas Waterfront, Swartwater and Fynskrif.

Sherman's first starring role came when he was cast in the kykNET & kie soapie Arendsvlei as Thys Cupido, the co-founder of the school, a mathematics teacher and a loving, devoted husband and father.

The series debuted on 1 October, 2018.

During his time on Arendsvlei he continued to perform in other drama on kykNET including Die Spreeus, Die Byl and Projek Dina.

In 2020 he had a guest starring role in an episode of the Netflix mystery drama series Blood & Water, which aired globally in 190 countries.
