Alia Shawkat is an American actress best known for her role as Mae "Maeby" Fünke in the television sitcom Arrested Development, from 2003-2006 and again in 2013.

From 2001 to 2002, Shawkat starred as Hannah Rayburn in the television sitcom State of Grace, aired in the United States on the cable television channel Fox Family (renamed ABC Family in 2001).

She has made guest appearances on the television series JAG, Presidio Med, Without A Trace, Boomtown, and Veronica Mars; and has acted in the made-for-TV movies The Trial of Old Drum (2002) and Not Like Everyone Else (2006).

Shawkat's feature film debut was in the 1999 action film Three Kings, in which she had a cameo as the daughter of one of the soldiers stationed in Iraq.

Since then she has appeared in the feature films Rebound (2005), Queen of Cactus Cove (2005), Deck the Halls (2006) and Prom Wars (2007).
