YOH! French media company Canal+ announces offer to buy MultiChoice. It owns 31.7% already and wants 100%. According to their statement, they anticipate paying R105 per share - they were R75 on 31 January 2024 before the offer was announced. They jumped to R92,67 by 10h45 on 1 February.

YOH! Did you know? Local Netflix romcom Yoh! Christmas isn't an original series. It's a remake of Norwegian show Home for Christmas and I Hate Christmas, an Italian version. Same as Unseen - a remake of Turkish series Fatma.

YOH! e.tv yanks Roekelose Dade from the 17h00 timeslot in August and puts it on the shelf until Winter Son ends on eExtra - which hasn't even started yet. Elbowed out by Annekan’ Die Swa’ Kry which premieres on e.tv on 21 August. Winter Son starts on eExtra on 9 August at 19h00 for 50 episodes.

YOH! The final episode of cancelled Motswako airs on SABC2 on Thursday 1 December (at 19h30) and the guest is... Carol Bouwer, currently under investigation by the Hawks. According to City Press, they're accusing her of fraudulent involvement in a tender worth almost R40-million awarded to her production house to organise a Nelson Mandela memorial. The same production house that makes Motswako, which is why she's in the finale.

YOH! Apple TV+ subscriptions increased by a massive 47% in South Africa on Tuesday 25 October. The price skyrocketed from R84,99 to R124,99 per month. The hike is global but hasn't increased by the same percentage everywhere e.g. it's 40% in America. It's the first increase since Apple TV+ launched on 1 November 2019.

YOH! M-Net loses Grey's Anatomy to Disney+ after 18 seasons. The new 19th season will stream on Disney+ exclusively from Wednesday 26 October. Story picks up six months after Season 18, with five new interns. Previous 18 seasons will be available too. >>

YOH! Production manager Cheryl Chelsea Vilakazi and cinematographer Ari de Beer call producer Uzanenkosi Motha "a CHARLATAN". They allege he's fled without paying the UK or South African crew, cast, caterers and everyone involved the UK/SA action thriller Stolen that was supposed to stream on BET+. Apparently the production received R1.5-million from the KZN Film Commission and £1-million from the British Film Institute. Oh, the irony of the movie title. See comments >>

This as HBO Max struggles to stay afloat as a separate entity after a merger between WarnerMedia (who owned HBO) and Discovery, Inc. TV networks are scrambling.

The eNews and Sport Channel go dark on Openview 120 from 1 April in eMedia's ever increasing musical chairs involving disappearing and reappearing channels on DStv (see below) and new channel eXposed which replaces eRewind on Openview on 1 April. Departs for personal reasons, the day after a task in which she shared her story about how she was raped multiple times before the age of seven. Actress Deli Malinga claims she's been fired from Imbewu after telling the show's casting director that she wanted to negotiate her contract herself instead of negotiating through the agent who negotiated her first contract. In a Facebook post Deli says she was supposed to reprise her role as Nomalanga, Nkululeko's mother, but she's been written out instead. Deli claims she never got to the point of a negotiation but was told she's lost the role because she wants too much money. Says the casting director and agent in question are friends.
