The Big Question

What you may ask? So many questions that are left unanswered this week on 7de laan as we are left hanging only to find the answers in the weeks to come.

Ok the actual big questions that I’m referring to is the risks surrounding Dezi’s eye operation. Should she go ahead with it even if there’s a 50 percent chance she might never see again or should she take her chances with the hope that she may fully recover?

The other big question, which is the biggest one for us viewers this week, is the one surrounding Aubrey’s illness. What is the news that the clinic relayed to Felicity? Is it what we all think it is, that baby Aubrey has finally given up the fight and passed on or perhaps his time is drawing very near?

If it is that he has finally succumbed then we all have this burning question on our minds, did Charmaine have a hand in his untimely “death”?

Ok let me start the week at the beginning rather than at the end.

Charmaine and Vanessa are feeling the strain of Aubrey’s illness as Charmaine snaps at the waiters in Oppiekoffie and Vanessa breaks down in tears as she tells Dezi about the boy’s health deteriorating.

Whilst Felicity is keeping an eye on Aubrey, she rushes in to say that he’s not breathing and his body’s has gone rigid. Stefan quickly reacts as he tells Marko to bring the car around and he rushes to take Vanessa and Charmaine to the clinic.

Paula makes a nuisance of herself at the Hillside Times offices as she bullies Aggie into helping her get her job back. She knows Aggie’s weakness only too well as she bribes her with ear-rings.

Xander has finished his articles and is now officially an attorney, he will be admitted in a ceremony at the Supreme Court in Pretoria but he tries not to make a big deal out of it.

Neville offers his congratulations to Xander and he tells him how proud he is and that he will definitely be attending the ceremony.

Matrone is literally spreading jam around Mandla’s mouth as she specially makes herzoggies for him and invites him to dinner, she wants to be nominated for the Dazzling Dame Competition and nothing and nobody is gonna stand in her way.

George and Altus will be handling the prestigious event for the Hillside Times where the winner gets to go to a dinner banquet where the President, Thabo Mbeki, will be present.

Dezi informs Emma that she could go for a specialised eye operation since her nerves have healed so well but there’s a 50/50 chance that she might get her sight back completely or be blinded forever. Dezi seems very excited and is optimistic that she will see again.

Carlos comes home from the hospital and receives news that Sandra is in Central America, he explains to Ryno that Sandra hates him because of his relationship with Lana.

Marko and Felicity discuss Aubrey who was taken to the clinic, he had an operation whereby a tube had to be inserted into his head so that fluid from his brain can be drained to relieve the pressure.

Inge and Felicity speculate about the boutique’s finances now that Sandra has disappeared with all her money.

The girls tease Felicity about designing her own wedding dress and Vince further indulges them to Felicity’s delight.

Mandla explains to Hilda and Oubaas the qualities they are looking for in a woman nominated for the Dazzling Dame Competition. A woman who has style, panache, is a pillar in her community and Oubaas puts his foot in it when he suggests his dear old mother, Moekie.

Naturally Hilda is upset with him.

Carlos and Jan Hendrik discuss Sandra, although Carlos is adamant he does’nt need her money and she had the right to her own finances, Jan Hendrik pushes him to have her caught and locked up but Carlos refuses, for Ewald’s sake.

He receives a call from Notnagel to say that Sandra has closed her account in the Bahamas and that she and her money is untraceable.

Neville, Vince and Xander are getting ready to leave for Xander’s function when Neville quickly phones Chamaine to give his support, whilst on the phone, who should rock up, none other than the thorn in Charmaine’s side, Daleen Meintjies in all her uppity glory.

Why why why writers should you do this? Just when Neville was slowly beginning to worm his way back into Charmaine’s life, you bring back the actual reason for their break up. Will these two ever get it together?

Carlos and Lana have dinner together and Lana breaks it to Carlos that she asked for a transfer to Richard’s Bay thereby ending their relationship before it has even begun.

She says she’s doing it for him, the trauma that he suffered as a result of Sandra blah blah blah, its all just excuses if you ask me, maybe she’s doing it because Carlos is now penniless?

There’s definite vibes between Paula and Altie when they come face to face but Altie refuses to be taken for a fool again.

Vince and mommy dearest discuss Xander’s love life and Hilda tells Daleen about Felicity being in Vince’s life. She gets it into her head to invite her future daughters in-law to dinner.

Charmaine pleads with the nurse at the clinic to make things easier for Aubrey as he cries non-stop. She turns to Vanessa to comfort her as Vanessa breaks down again.

Daleen invites Felicity to dinner and when Felicity refuses saying she wants to be there for Charmaine, Daleen thinks Felicity is being snobbish and blames her for Neville and Charmaine breaking up, not knowing the real truth.

When Neville visit Charmaine to offer his support, she lets slip about Daleen picking up his phone and tells him she does’nt have the strength to handle issues with him and his ex-wife, she’s far too concerned about Aubrey.

Neville confronts Daleen about the phone call with Charmaine telling her she’s up to her old tricks of ordering him around and using their sons as an excuse, he angrily tells her not to interfere in his life again.

I applaud you Nellie for finally standing up to your ex-wife, its long overdue but you finally came to your senses.

Jan Hendrik and Dezi discuss the upcoming operation, he is against it as he prefers her to play it safe. The two argue as she tells him she wants to go through with it and she needs his support which he just can’t seem to give to her.

Jan Hendrik, you never learn, do you? You and your wife are drifting further apart and you’re not helping matters much.

Hilda brings food for Charmaine and Vanessa and Stefan pops in to hear the latest regarding Aubrey. He sadly tells them that nobody can help Aubrey and its time for them to accept the truth that this is a battle they just won’t win.
Marko and Aggie discuss their business, Aggie’s Cleaning Services, and Marko suggest they expand the business by advertising on t-shirts, but Aggie is not convinced.

Matrone’s Okavango article appears in the Times and she proudly blows her own trumpet to Ryno in the deli whilst Hilda makes snide remarks at Matrone’s expense.

George tries to convince Altus to forgive Paula for hurting him because the dude is doing extreme sports all to impress different women but his body is suffering as a result.

When Charmaine sees Jackie, the nurse from the clinic in the boutique, she quickly pops over to ask about Aubrey’s progress. The nurse breaks it to her that Aubrey will not get better, he will be blind, not be able to walk, etc.

Daleen once again invites Felicity to dinner and she accepts.

Neville tells Mandla to invite suitable candidates to be interviewed to replace Paula. Paula does’nt take the news well when Aggie informs her of the university degrees the candidates have.

Maria helps Hilda remember all the community work and pledges she has done over the years as Hilda wants to enter for the Dazzling Dame Competition.

Hmm, it’s been a long time since we had a catfight between Hilda and Matrone with only one winner emerging, the claws are sure to come out, methinks.

At Daleen’s dinner she interrogates Shandre about her parent’s occupation and is pleased to hear they’re in the medical field. Felicity proudly tells her of her humble upbringing, something Mrs Meintjies clearly does not want to hear.

Neville walks in on the dinner and is invited to stay as we see Vince making eyes at Shandre. I just hope Felicity will open her eyes and see Vince for the player he is and Xander for the sweet and sensitive guy he is.

Emma and Ryno drop by at Charmaine’s and she tells them of Aubrey’s setback, declaring words that might come back to haunt her. She says in front of Stefan that it would be more merciful if Aubrey were dead as it’s no life for the little boy to live having to suffer so.

Vanessa tries to be optimistic about Aubrey’s illness but Charmaine and Felicity are doubtful. She goes out and buys toys for the boy, excited at the prospect of him coming home.

Charmaine goes to the boutique after speaking to the clinic staff and she breaks down when she tells Felicity that Aubrey’s lungs have now given in. She angrily vents her frustrations and says she can’t take it no more.

While Felicity is making coffee, Charmaine gets a strange look in her eyes as she walks out of the boutique.

Stefan is looking for Charmaine and he goes to the boutique. Felicity tells him the latest news regarding Aubrey and she relates the news of her own baby’s death. He comforts her and says all the right things but suddenly he too gets this strange look in his eyes.

Charmaine looks at the photos of Vanessa and Aubrey and decides to start cooking. She puts the stove on and without thinking leaves the house.

Vanessa is at the club with Aubrey’s toys, she too has this bewildered expression on her face. We then see Charmaine at Aubrey’s bedside relating tales of his infant days and the nurse sees Charmaine talking to him.

Marko comes home, sees the smoke and burning pot on the stove as he calls out but nobody seems to be at home. He rushes to Felicity at the boutique and she tells him she’s going home to wait for Charmaine and Vanessa.

Charmaine leaves the clinic looking very suspicious, arrives home in a daze and goes to her room.

Felicity gets a call from the clinic, we know its bad news because we just saw the nurse rushing to Aubrey’s bedside after seeing the emergency red light flashing. Felicity has a terrified expression on her face.

Tune in to find out if Aubrey’s time on 7de laan is up, if the clinic suspects foul play and if our loveable sweet-natured Charmaine is guilty or is she the easiest suspect? Could it be Stefan or even Vanessa?

What do you think?
