The Truth Shall Set You Free!

A few truths are revealed this week, the truth of Sandra’s financial affairs, the truth of Dezi’s friendship with Liam and the truth of Baby Aubrey’s illness.

So this week we finally found out what poor baby Aubrey is suffering from. A frantic phone call to Paris and Vanessa pleading with her mom to return home made us aware that Aubrey was’nt just suffering from the common cold, this was something very serious.

Charmaine and Hilda’s return home could’nt even be properly rejoiced, off course Oom Oubaas would beg to differ, his bride was back and he was gonna make the most of having her back. Notice the broad smile on his face when he wakes up the next morning, methinks the old folks have been up to some hanky panky.

Charmaine on the other hand was way too concerned about the results of Aubrey’s test, a test which showed that the little boy was suffering from a rare illness named Fleischman’s Encephaly.

It’s basically a brain disorder where the brain does not develop fully causing a child to live plus minus 5 to 7 years. Ryno off course did some research about the illness and he made it clear to Inge and Emma that there was no reason to hope, the child would suffer terribly before dying.

The thing that bothers me is Stefan Arendse, Aubrey’s grandfather, he lost two sons, one to an accident, the other we don’t know yet. He was very vague when Vanessa questioned him about it. Seems to me, Mr Arendse knows all to well about this illness that Aubrey has, perhaps his other son succumbed to the illness???

The other revelation this week was Dezi’s friendship with Liam. Jan Hendrik had a private investigator, Frik Buys, follow Dezi around. Off course he could’nt wait to tell Jan Hendrik how his wife was with Liam in his room for a certain amount to time, how she went there early in the morning, etc.

Jan Hendrik could’nt believe that Dezi would betray him like that, he gave her the cold shoulder when she was ready to share her news with him. Her news off course was the fact that her vision was getting clearer, she could make out Liam’s guitar even the strings she could see and she was overjoyed when she shared her news with Emma obviously lying through her teeth about who’s guitar it was. She never does get the chance to tell Jan-Hendrik as the tension between the two is so thick…….

Finally Jan Hendrik could take it no more, he confronted his wife and she was shocked that he would think that of her, their arguments always seem to be interrupted by Madel walking in on them, the joys of living with your parents, you can’t even argue in peace.

Naturally Jan Hendrik was surprised by Dezi befriending a tramp even going so far as to put him up in a boarding house, thats our Dezi for you, always eager to go beyond the call of duty.

A few 50 cent coins and peanut butter sarmie will not do it for our charitable Dezi, she has to actually rent a room for the guy. Who does that in SA? Not to mention, the very same woman being attacked and blinded in a horrible crime that happened a few months back and she was nearly killed by her assailant. But no, Liam could’nt possibly be a rapist or murderer, Dezi could “see” right into his soul just with a few beautiful songs, very easy to manipulate that one.

Anyway Dezi went to Liam and tried to motivate him to sing in public so he quickly took her hand and put it against his scar, making her finally realize why he was scared of being seen in public.

This does’nt stop our Dezi, she goes back and tries to persuade him to stop focusing on his scar and to concentrate on his singing then maybe the world would’nt focus on his scar either.

This tactic must’ve worked because next thing we knew, Altus was introducing Liam at the open-mic competition that Kyriakis de Lange was having at the club.

Liam said the song was meant for somebody special and we all knew who he meant. Dezi, sitting with her husband and the record producer, instantly recognized Liam’s voice, she could even make out his silhouette as he was singing on stage.

Liam was an instant hit as everyone congratulated him on a great performance and nobody even noticed his scar. Personally I did’nt think the song was that great, I’ve heard him sing better, but thats just me.

Dezi’s record producer friend was totally chuffed with this new talent and offered to sign a recording deal with him. Mind you, when Dezi was hooked in with Liam and they were laughing together, Jan Hendrik looked pissed.

He told Dezi that it was obvious that Liam was inlove with her, that the song was meant for her but Dezi could scarcely believe this so she confronted Liam about his feelings for her and he could’nt deny it.

Way too much talk about Dezi and Liam, moving right along.

Sandra Stutterheim, where does one begin? Sandra found out that Carlos has singing powers on all her accounts, that Jan Hendrik invested in the boutique and that Carlos has custody of Ewald, all this information is sure to make one go off one’s rocker, right?

No not Sandra, she’s determined that they will not re-admit her to an institution and with Nurse Ronel’s help she’s out to get all the information on her various accounts and investments. She’s also very keen on breaking up Carlos and Lana and it seems her first attempt did not help much as the two of them are quite cosy with each other again.

For an amateur is Nurse Ronel not doing a bad job, her fishing for info by Marko, pulling that stunt with the car’s alarm going off, etc I would say she’s doing a great job.

Sandra finally gets the password to the banking accounts, surprise surprise its Ewald, and she’s making a very interesting phone call to some bank overseas.

Other not so interesting things that happened was the return of Vince, who literally swept Felicity off her feet, the return of Paula who got a nice shiner from a big blonde chick from Witbank, something about a guy called Manie.

Altie eventually broke up with Paula, he could’nt take her fooling around on him anymore, even Mr Meintjies has had enough of Paula’s tricks. He promptly told Mandla and Aggie that she’s fired, her services are terminated, she’s been sacked and that he’s had enough of them covering up for her.

We also get to see Matrone returning from the Okovango, complaining bitterly about her mosquito bites and her sore feet. We see George and Karien coming back from their pre-honeymoon trip and also how Dezi and Altus plead with George to give Danny, the Namibian, a bursary thereby allowing her to study and work for them for 20 hours a week.

For a man who seemed against it at first, George wasted no time in telling Danny that the bursary is hers along with an employment contract of two years after her studies, much to Danny’s delight.

That was it for this week, we’ll have to wait for next week to see if Sandra succeeds in her quest, if Dezi will terminate her friendship with Liam so that things can go back to normal, how bad things will get for Vanessa now that the day mother is not willing to look after the baby anymore, whether Paula will get her job back and so much more.
