Fact Number 1: Mzansi Magic lives on. Kwa kwa kwa.
It looked like it was over for new shows on the channel with its SABC repeat vibes but now there's a debut on the horizon.
New telenovela Kwa Baba premieres on Monday 1 June 2026 in the Genesis timeslot at 19h30 and these are the need-to-know bytes...

It's by Singa Vision Productions who produced Genesis and it's set in Msawawa, Diepkloof Ext.

Sibongile & The Dlaminis star Vuyo Biyela (who was also on Genesis) leads the cast as Zwelakhe Mkhize.

Zwelakhe's a driven businessman who's on the brink of success, ready to settle down with his lurve interest Bahumi Motaung.
However, he soon discovers that before taking that next step, he must deal with a past traditional obligation tied to his late father’s unpaid debt.
Zwelakhe lives in a world where love is never enough and he's forced to confront a truth that could either restore or destroy his family, leading to the question: how much can someone sacrifice for the people they love?

Bahumi's played by Rorisang Mohapi-Grootboom (Kwa-Tsholo, Gqeberha, House of Zwide).

My Brother's Keeper and Gaz'lam star Hlengiwe Lushaba-Madlala plays Zwelakhe's mother MaMbokazi.
She's a respected, faith-led matriarch with a complicated past, fighting to keep her family and her reputation intact.

There's a second family involved in the shenanigans: the Motaung family - Bahumi's people. They represent love and stability but with hidden truths.

Mpho J. Molepo portrays the family's devoted patriarch Solomon who's built a warm and nurturing home.

Speaking of Mpho Molepo's... we haven't spotted RC's
Mpho in a show for too long.

Redemption and Queen Modjadji star Helen Lebepe plays Solomon's wife Dikeledi, a fiercely protective mother shaped by past heartbreak.

Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net describes the show like so:
"The story follows a first born son who must step into leadership, confront his past, and honour the legacy left by his father. As he learns to love, build a family and lead with courage, he must also take on his role as Inkosana."

The themes centre around tradition and passion and explore how far one son is willing to go when love is tested by family expectations, traditions and the weight of the past.

Also headlining are:
Lindani Nkosi,
Nkanyiso Mzimela (Somveli with the famous hairy upper lip on Shaka iLembe!),
Kwanele Mthethwa,
Sparky Xulu,
and Phumzile Mlangeni.
Keep a lookout for details on their characters.
