Coming up on Muvhango on Friday 24 January 2025:

Nicholas Nkuna as Khalema Semenya, mentioned in the teasers here and now we have added detail...

He's Dr Ximba's cousin and Sakhile's uncle but it's not as not simple as that because his connection to the family comes with "complicated undercurrents".

He's an army man - or at least he was. He was discharged under mysterious circumstances. What could they be? Why do people get discharged from the army?

We've Googled and these are some reasons:

Alcohol and drug abuse,
Rule breaking,
Bad conduct,
Committing a crime,
Losing your marbles or another medical condition.

This from Nicholas about his character:

Nicholas: “I am beyond excited to join the cast of Muvhango as Khalema, a bold, fearless, and unapologetic character who lives entirely for himself.

Khalema is unpredictable and shocking and commands attention with every move. Khalema challenges me as an actor in the most exhilarating way.

He’s ridiculous, insane, and completely un-understandable, yet he makes bold choices that demand confidence and a deep understanding of his complexity.

This role allows me to stretch my acting muscles and reminds me why I joined this industry - to play, to take risks, and to tell unforgettable stories.

For the first time, I get to act in a language rarely given a chance on South African television: Swati. This is a meaningful moment, representing young kids who may now see themselves in stories that reflect their heritage and identity."

Flash facts on Nicholas:

He played university lecturer Sakhile on Skeem Saam for six seasons.

He made the Top 3 of the BET acting competition Top Actor Africa.

His first starring role on TV was as Freedom in the 2017 sixth season of SABC2's Erfsondes and he debuted as Fikani Chauke on 7de Laan in the same year.

He's portrayed Anathi Mpofu on Generations: The Legacy since March 2023 and makes his final appearance on the show in March 2025.
