Just this week Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria revealed a sudsy truth about soapies in the Disney+ comedy series Only Murders in the Building:
Ding dong! moments.
This is how she described them:
"In soapie TV, a Ding Dong is a sexy surprise. It's like a long-lost brother returns or your paralysed uncle starts to walk again after 40 years."
And next thing, Ding Dong! Skeem Saam's introducing two.
The first is Gopane, played by Warren Masemola.
He's a long-lost Turfloop resident who returns to find out what happened to his son Smaki.
Gopane moved to Joziburg to work as a taxi driver years ago and now he's making a sudden appearance a few months after Smaki's mysterious disappearance.
He's going to give the Turfloop families the hairdryer by putting them under scrutiny as he vows to uncover the secret of what really happened to Smaki.
This from Warren about being on the show:
“It’s absolutely beautiful. I actually feel like I’m in Limpopo. Being a city boy that grew up in Tshwane, the set of Skeem Saam makes me feel like I’m back with my people.”
