Special Notes

Muvhango pays for failing its audience

Month Viewers
July 2024  1,325,878
August 2024 1,084,399

See how Muvhango's viewership has suffered a result of the show's supposed "shutdown".

It lost over 240,000 viewers between the end of Season 25 on 2 July 2024 and the start of Season 26, which only happened six weeks after the Season 25 finale - on 12 August when it was advertised as starting on 5 August.

The fake news that was announced by the production and the SABC backfired completely. They said that the show had ended when it hadn't, viewers believed it and 241,479 people didn't return.

That's a loss of 18% of the audience.

Those who did return also took a long time to do so because the most watched episode was only recorded on Tuesday 27 August, two weeks after it was back.

And what did they get? NO new logo or new title card, which was fake marketing spin too because it was promised during the big comeback announcement but didn't happen.

If these latest numbers are anything to go by, the next time we hear it's been cancelled - it will be true.
