It's the end of all storylines for Skeem Saam's Celia Kunutu Magongwa from this Monday 4 July.

As you may have seen in the latest teasers here, Season 10 ends this Friday and Season 11 premieres Monday, without Shoki Mmola.

The SABC and Skeem Saam announced the news in this short press release on Thursday:

Shoki Mmola bows out of Skeem Saam

Boasting a whopping 26 years of her television career, Mmola has been playing the character of ‘Celia’ on Skeem Saam for 10 years and in that role has been one of show’s lead actresses, contributing to its accomplishments over the past decade.

Always keeping fans entertained, Mmola has portrayed the character of ‘Celia’ impeccably.

She will be missed by fellow cast members, crew members and viewers watching at home.

We wish her well and all the best with her future ventures.

Mmola will not be featured in the new season starting Monday 4th July 2022.

-----

Shoki's departure follows in the footsteps of her legendary on-screen daughter Rachel who exited two seasons ago - a shoutout to Lesego Marakalla... we'll always miss you as Rachel!

Shoki's also been with Skeem Saam since its debut, first as a recurring character and then starring from Season 4.

In 2021 she was nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress category at the Royalty Soapie Awards and she also received a SAFTA nod in the same year - her second SAFTA nomination.

The first was back in 2010 for her role as Grace in SABC1's Death of a Queen.

Most recently she was nominated for a DStv Mzansi Viewers' Choice Award in the Favourite Actress category and she also has her own fashion label called Vintage Shock.

Where will she pop up next?

PS: There's no word on why Shoki's leaving - we've asked the show's production company Peu Communication Solutions who tell us they're unable to comment further than the press release.
