A fourth telenovela premieres on eExtra this Monday (14 September) in the channel's nightly Afrikaans Kuiertyd marathon.
Elif joins the line-up at 18h15 with upsized episodes in its first week.
The first five episodes are longer than the rest so a heads-up that it changes time to 18h35 from Monday, 21 September after its premiere week.
It's also a Turkish novela dubbed into Afrikaans and tells the story of a six-year-old girl who, like so many small girls, finds herself thrust into circumstances she didn't ask for, at the mercy of self-involved adults.
Her mother Malek secretly delivers her to the wealthy Emiroglu household, where she will grow up, as her mother did, as a servant on the farm.
Although she doesn’t know it, Elif is the child of Kenan Emiroglu, the eldest son of the family.
He's not aware of this either.
He loved her mother but six years ago she was forced to flee the farm to protect Elif's life.
Clearly a dark family force festers.

After discovering that Melek and Kenan were married, Arzu sets out to destroy both Melek and her daughter. Ayse is distraught at hearing Aliye’s evil plan which nearly annihilated Melek.

Arzu has her suspicions and devises a plan with Gonca to follow Ayse. Veysel is in trouble with the loan shark Idris, and has a week to bring Elif or pay the rest of his gambling debt.
Veysel finds Melek at his home and threatens her to tell him where to find Elif.
