So that's it peeps. It's as we suspected
right here.
The curtains are closing on FOX Life (on DStv and StarSat), in a double whammy with Disney XD.
Disney bought 21st Century Fox in March last year, meaning they're both from the same stable and go dark on the same day: at midnight on 30 September 2020.
Disney Africa spokesperson Jared Stokes confirmed the details to TVSA today, saying that some of Disney XD's animated and live action series will move to Disney (DStv 303).
On the FOX Life front, there's hardly anything to move now that the telenovelas are running riot all over the place.
They'll be finished by month-end and vanishing series The Candidate, which was yanked at the last minute, will probably move to a different channel at some stage.
As for why this has happened... this from Disney:
As the television landscape and viewer consumption evolves, we continue to develop and review our products and services - including with our platform partners - to ensure we are offering the best possible experience for consumers.
This from us:
FOX Life has always been the C-grade sister channel to FOX and it's time to cut the strings, put it out of its misery.
The telenovela blitz offered some bang for South African viewers but the rest was very meh wasn't it? And don't get us started on that psychic sham-fest with Cindy Kruger that they insisted on insulting us with.
Generally speaking It's Time.
Do you agree?
