It's over and out for FOX Life and Disney XD

So that's it peeps. It's as we suspected right here.
The curtains are closing on FOX Life (on DStv and StarSat), in a double whammy with Disney XD.

Disney bought 21st Century Fox in March last year, meaning they're both from the same stable and go dark on the same day: at midnight on 30 September 2020.

Disney Africa spokesperson Jared Stokes confirmed the details to TVSA today, saying that some of Disney XD's animated and live action series will move to Disney (DStv 303).

On the FOX Life front, there's hardly anything to move now that the telenovelas are running riot all over the place.

They'll be finished by month-end and vanishing series The Candidate, which was yanked at the last minute, will probably move to a different channel at some stage.

As for why this has happened... this from Disney:

As the television landscape and viewer consumption evolves, we continue to develop and review our products and services - including with our platform partners - to ensure we are offering the best possible experience for consumers.

This from us:

FOX Life has always been the C-grade sister channel to FOX and it's time to cut the strings, put it out of its misery.

The telenovela blitz offered some bang for South African viewers but the rest was very meh wasn't it? And don't get us started on that psychic sham-fest with Cindy Kruger that they insisted on insulting us with.

Generally speaking It's Time.

Do you agree?

Dstv continues to sack channels without proper replacement. I mean look at ITV Choice (123) & BBC First (119), the claimed that the content on these channels would broadcast on Mnet 101 which is already struggling with latest season of shows. I mean we have to wait for more than a year to get current season of latest series, e.g. NCIS 17 (The US is currently on season 18).
Look at the latest transformation of movie channels. They went from BAD TO WORSE!!!  It doesn't make sense why the continue disconnecting channels whereas they expect us to pay the full amount for subscription. Disney XD is one of the good kids channels compared to the other 10 channels which shows mediocre and keeps repeating content. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

You can say that again, I'm still waiting for the final season of Ray Donovan (ended January 2020) and The Affair (ended November 2019)

The decision to discontinue them was all on Disney and not DStv. By the end of September, any platform that has these channels will lose them. Disney XD is not a complete loss as mentioned above Disney Channel will air them I loved the channel just didn't like the concept since it made things easier for Disney to cancel out shows whenever they feel that channel overshadowed the main channel. FOX Life is was a complete waste as they never finished those Turkish shows they hyped about and they promised viewers more useless reality shows that never materialized. TLnovelas is launching next month and that's the channel FOX Life got their Latin American content from to me that's Life's replacement channel. FOX never put any effort towards the brand internationally and this was long before Disney bought it.

Fox Life & disney XD are both following the footsteps of BBC First which exited the South African platform since the beginning of the Month, and 2 Mnet movie channels.
